why buy or not buy a durango? your comments desired...

Q: were looking to get rid of our ford explorer 92 and buy a dodge durango... any comments... pro or con for such a pruchase were specifically looking at 98 or newer 5.9 ltr v8 rear air tow package and 3rd row seat. has anyone had loads of issues with them jojo .

i would tell you that if you do indeed buy one 98-2000 or so add air shocks to the back if you will be pulling anything that has a tongue weight in excess of 500 lbs as the weight will cause the rear end to bob up and down even with a weight distributing hitch. some will say to install bilstein shocks all the way around but it makes the ride a lot rougher. if you put the helper springs on there it will ride rough as well. at least with the air shocks you can lessen the air pressure and have a nice ride when not trailering. other than that issue i havent had any problems with my 99 durango mine has a little less than 40k miles on it and looks like it just drove off of the showroom floor. has been a very fun vehicle to drive. my $.02 tm were looking to get rid of our ford explorer 92 and buy a dodge durango... any comments... pro or con for such a pruchase were specifically looking at 98 or newer 5.9 ltr v8 rear air tow package and 3rd row seat. has anyone had loads of issues with them jojo .

we had a 2001 durango w/ 16k we traded in for the 2004 limited w/ hemi. well worth the trade. ride stability braking quietride and the rear end doesnt bounce out when encountering a bump on a curve. kevin were looking to get rid of our ford explorer 92 and buy a dodge durango... any comments... pro or con for such a pruchase were specifically looking at 98 or newer 5.9 ltr v8 rear air tow package and 3rd row seat. has anyone had loads of issues with them jojo .

i opted to buy the newer 2004 with the hemi. i wanted the ability to tow and the older durangos arent as stable when towing. also the 2004s are going for at least $5000 below invoice. 2003s if you can find them still new my dealer has 2 are $6000 below invoice. jojo wrote were looking to get rid of our ford explorer 92 and buy a dodge durango... any comments... pro or con for such a pruchase were specifically looking at 98 or newer 5.9 ltr v8 rear air tow package and 3rd row seat. has anyone had loads of issues with them jojo .
