Q: i cant imagine the original poster going from 16 to 15 rims and ending up with the same tire diameter... try this tire calculator. play around with the tire and wheel sizes. it lets you input sizes for two different tires at once and gives you measurements for each. the diameter of a 195-65-14 tire is within one half of a percent of a 145-60-17. http//www.discountpartcenter.com/tirecalc.html .

the front wheels get the most drive. always! if not your rear bumber will out race the front down the road. false unless the system is poorly designed. awd computer control should allow for front axle slip and direct power to the rear to keep the vehicle from getting stuck and to allow the front axle to regain traction. under conditions where both axles have the same amount of traction the ratio will favor the front axle for the reason you mention. on all 4 wheel drive vehicles the front diff will always be a little bit taller for that reason like 3.54 front 3.55 back rubbish. the difference is much more likely due to ring diameter than to actual planned differnces particularly at the .01 amount you mention. btw the rear axle in your theory would be the 3.54 while the front would be 3.55. the front axle would turn more for your theory to be proven. the front must always be boss. wrong as proven when the front axle is spinning. on awd vehicles the difference is absorbed through the viscous coupling. this is why your normal 4 x 4 cautions the use of 4wd on bare pavement. on those vehicles the tires must slip. absolutely correct. that is why awd vehicles get slightly poorer fuel consumption over their counterparts. according to bob m thats not always true. max life liberty and the pursuit of any jackass that threatens it. embellished usnavy slogan .
