Q: hey you guys are great at this stuff you should be getting paid for it! i did figure out today what chiltons was trying to say i think you take the pipe and lay it across the engine bay jack the motor up the book tells you that much then you attach the pipe to the motor by way of bolting a chain to the block then remove the jack and the pipe/chain holds the motor slightly off its mounts allowing i suppose since i havent got that far yet ease of removal of the transmission. the book actually doesnt call for a shop crane for another 11 steps before which you are supposed to remove the entire exhaust system shift rods torque shaft cooler lines speedo cable electrical connections to tranny converter cover then support the tranny and remove the rear engine support finally add an engine lifting fixture i guess there is a certine vagueness that makes it difficult for a kid like me to understand exactly what/why im doing somthing when there is no adult supervision when the book dosent say ok now jack the motor up and hook it to the chain wrapped around the pipe through the van.... seriously you guys are great thanks eap .

you guys are great at this stuff you should be getting paid for it! *********** donations accepted! lol as you have probably determined if you have the engine hooked to a hoist then you dont need the pipe. just be careful not to get under the engine - never trust a jack of any kind. paul aka tha driver giggle cream - it makes dessert *funny*! .
