Q: someone from chrysler said it is likely a problem with the throttle position sensor yes a faulty tps technically called an apps accelerator pedal position sensor in that model year is certainly in the top 5 possibilities. but the guys at aamco say it doesnt have one...not sure as im with them on that....can anyone tell me where it is located if it has one...and what it looks like. that would worry me because yes there absolutely is one. look on the drivers side of the engine at the front. there will be a black plastic shroud round at the front. under that is the apps - its got two throttle cables going to it one from the pedal in the cab and one from the transmission and an electrical harness. if you dont find it there then its located under the drivers side battery box very late-model 03s relocated the apps to this location. any ideas anyone. several. first check the ecm ground - remove the ecm silver box with three big connectors on it passenger side firewall and clean the are around the screw holes it grounds itself through the case. you can also run a wire from the ecm mounting screw directly to the battery negative. also check the body ground behind the passenger side battery. again make sure you have true metal-to-metal contact on the ground terminal. finally find the wire from the alternator to the passenger-side battery positive terminal and wrap it in aluminum foil. strange as it sounds electrical noise from the alternator can interfere with the pcm. with the electrical grounding/noise problems addressed if you still have the problem check the apps sensor for any kind of erratic behavior your tranny shop should be able to do this once you show them where its located. check the brake switch to make sure its not the cause of the problem. .

normally i wouldnt forward or post something like this but i thought it was a good story. a friend of mine sent it to me. had a line in it about the story had been checked out at snopes.com i didnt check it out myself thought the story alone was good enough. so here it is fellas back in september of 2005 on the first day of school martha cothren a social studies school teacher at robinson high school in little rock did something not to be forgotten. on the first day of school with the permission of the school superintendent the principal and the building supervisor she removed all of the desks out of her classroom. when the first period kids entered the room they discovered that there were no desks. looking around confused they asked ms. cothren wheres our desks she replied you cant have a desk until you tell me what you have done to earn the right to sit at a desk. they thought well maybe its our grades. no she said. maybe its our behavior. she told them no its not even your behavior. and so they came and went the first period second period third period. still no desks in the classroom. by early afternoon television crews had started gathering in ms. cothrens classroom to report about this crazy teacher who had taken all the desks out of her room. the final period of the day came and as the puzzled students found seats on the floor of the deskless classroom martha cothren said throughout the day no one has been able to tell me just what he/she has done to earn the right to sit at the desks that are ordinarily found in this classroom. now i am going to tell you. at this point martha cothren went over to the door of her classroom and opened it. twenty-seven 27 u.s . veterans all in uniforms walked into that classroom each one carrying a school desk. the vets began placing the school desks in rows and then they would walk over and stand alongside the wall. by the time the last soldier had set the final desk in place those kids started to understand perhaps for the first time in their lives just how the right to sit at those desks had been earned. martha said you didnt earn the right to sit at these desks. these heros did it for you. they placed the desks here for you. now its up to you to sit in them. it is your responsibility to learn to be good students to be good citizens. they paid the price so that you could have the freedom to get an education. dont ever forget it. -- chris .

problem definitely is the seat belt control module. pulling the fuse that feeds the sbcm solved the problem i was having with high iod and killing both batteries in about a week. okay my mistake. in later years all these functions were incorporated into the ctm. however in 99 and probably earlier years as well there is indeed a separate sbcm that handles these functions seat belt switches solenoids door ajar switches etc. have you disconnected the sbcm at the wiring harness again to verify that the sbcm is really at fault and not the wiring its located underneath the front seat center console. anyone ever changed one of these modules any ideas on how much they are looks to be a little over $100 - i saw one quoted for $118. .

repeat wrote i posted this once before but not really good answers. old dodge van mid 70s 318. alternator had spacer that one bolt slipped in. long time ago i lost the spacer and used washers to align the pulleys with the bolt alone. worked for a long time. now loud squealing on startup when engine warms up squealing goes away. squealing only occurs simultaneously with alternator gauge needle bottoming out in charge position alternating with normal position in which case squeal disappears-i.e. as long as needle swings back to midrange position squeal disappears only to reappear when bottoming to charge position. squeal and bottoming of needle go away completely when motor warms up. checking the belt it is one of these kind that has teeth on inside pulley side surface. belt looks ok-not worn; appears undamaged but is somewhat loose about 3/4 to one inch deflection. pulleys seem to be aligned correctly eyeball check only. how do i differentiate between a squealing alternator versus a squealing loose belt vs a squealing out of alignment pulleys what is causing the alternator gauge needle to bottom itermittently to full charge swinging back an forth between that and midline reading-is this a function of a bad voltage regulator i cannot run this thing too long as my neighbors will complain about the noise. i wish to avoid replacing a $100 alternator if that is not the cause. how do i differentially diagnose the cause of the problem. anyone thanks. while i agree with the other posters about just tighten it up or replace the belt and tighten it up it may not be that simple. while youre at the parts store getting a new belt have the alternator checked. hmm... i never considered this before. could one say convert an old vehicle like the one were discussing to a modern serpentine belt system by stealing the complete accessory rack off the front of say a magnum 5.2 motor did the bolt points change over the years i sure love the auto-tensioner and if youre already in need of an alternator and the ac is out youd be getting an r134a pump out of the deal it likely wouldnt cost that much more in parts at the local pull-it-yourself junkyard. .

denny wrote azwiley1 wrote and studded tires that are better than sliced bread! you have to make sure to mount studded tires using a proper type of torque wrench. also because of the cold winter air a k&n filter should be used. which leads me to the question of what weight oil should be used on the k&n when it is below 0 degrees should a lighter weight be used or the standard stuff denny it doesnt matter how heavy the oil is as long as it has proper gearing. -- ken .

thanks. i found a really small hard plastic tube that was broken off. looked like it went to the cruize diaphram. ky kyhighlandnospam@roadrunner.com says... my ram 91 model flips between the defog and the dash vents when you start up a hill. it dont have to be much of an incline either just 2 or 3 percent just enough to put a little load on the engine. ive had it to the part changers over at the dealership and after $300 it is still doing the same thing. now they want to put a $400 part on it a gas canister. with it only doing it on an uphill slope it seems to me it would be a vacuum thing. anyone have any ideas ky get yourself a couple of rolls of vac hose and start changing them out. youre sure to find cracked hoses in a 16 year old truck. the cruise diaphragm is a good bet too. bdk .
