tranny clunk

Q: dspencer77 wrote have a braking problem with my truck and hope someone can help. when i step on the brake pedal the brakes grab. i barely have to push on the pedal and it feels like the rear brakes grab and sometimes the tires lockup. the truck has rear antilock i have no antilock light on. its almost as if there is too much residual pressure in the lines to the rear brakes or something is not letting the pressure release. i noticed this started happenng after i had to make a panic stop while towing my 5th wheel camper. pull the rear wheels & drums and check for a leaking axle seal or leaking wheel brake cylinder. either of these will give you the symptoms you describe. ive had one of each go bad on my 99 2500 td 4x4 so far. .

i do not know if 02 trannys have band adjustments also the clunk is not always present its like it takes an extra 1/16 of an inch to engage your 45rfe doesnt have any bands. however if it did a feeler gauge would be close to the last tool in the toolbox you would reach for when adjusting bands. .

tom lawrence tnloaswpraemnmcien5g@earthlink.net wrote in told me that the intermediate steering shaft was loose. price tag was 334.63 + tax. my question is this a difficult part to replace not especially... just a little tight to work in but its basically a pinch bolt down on the steering box and one at the top of the intermediate shaft/bottom of the steering column. no special tools are needed just a good set of socket extensions and probably a universal joint. check either borgeson of flaming river - two companies that make much better-quality aftermarket shafts than the stocker its all in the quality of the joints/needle bearings. thanks for the info. i have been looking into the aftermarket parts ... -- regards slick willy 73 cb 450 95 xj 600 03 flstf - parted ways in late july 04 flhrci - entering geezerdom at a mere 32 ... remove the bendover to reply .

i have a 95 ram with the 318 and od transmission that is driving me nuts!!! from a cold start everything is great no problems but when she warms up 5mins or sothe idle goes to hell bouncing from 300 to about 1000 and sometimes stalls when i go to crawl away from a stop and sometimes seems to almost back fire as it tries to catch itself. if i keep the rpm up around 1200 or so it is fine. after the rpm are up she runs as good as it ever did!! plugs wires cap and button were all changed but with no effect but all this computer stuff messes me up. any ideas as to the problem and cure .

if your transmission has bands have them checked. they are adjusted by torque and a feeler gauge usually accessible from the lower valve body. -- coasty semper paratus always ready hello all i have a 2002 1500 with the 4.7 it seems that when i start from a complete stop sometimes there is a small clunk like it is engaging or something . it is very small though and not always . i changed the tranny fluid with atf 4 completely to be sure. maybe it is rear end rpms at idle are at about 600. any ideas thanks in advance ..... .

no you need one in both sentence structure and transmission theory it seems. this from the same guy who didnt know the difference between an impeller and a stator .
