towing hitch

Q: it is possible but not very likely. the higher octane fuel additives may not burn off as well and could result in carbon deposit buildup on the heads. easy solution would be to use some cleaner every few thousand miles to prevent it from occurring. oh and thank you. keep your head down. -- steve w. as some of you know im a 2001 dakota owner who is currently stationed overseas. the base just upgraded the gas station and in their infinite wisdom now only offer 95 octane gas. my owners manual says my engine could be damaged if i use high octane. will it really if this can indeed damage my engine id like to know how and if theres any way additives id be able to use this gas. otherwise i have to use more expensive options which may include paying the current $6.50 per gallon which is what we pay here with the currently high exchange rate. thanks for any advice! jmc ----== posted via feeds.com - unlimited-uncensored-secure usenet ==---- http//www.feeds.com the #1 group service in the world! 120000+ groups ----= east and west-coast server farms - total privacy via encryption =---- .

the receiver hitch on mine is rated at 5000# but also 10000# with a weight distributing hitch. if you read the fine print in your owners manual you may find the same thing. hi bob now isnt that what i said in my original post - any idea if its really only capable of 5000 pounds on a standard hitch like in the picture from the link in my original thread -- nathan w. collier http//7slotgrille.com http//utilityoffroad.com .

generally speaking your truck is capable of towing 13k# but only when properly equipped. ive never seen a simple recieiver hitch rated that high. of course ive never needed to tow more than 10k# either. i believe you need a 5th wheel hitch to pull max load. 10000 would be the maximum since that is my trailer gvwr. i know i can tow this fine with my 04.5 cummins since it has a class iv hitch. again i just dont see why they would put such a light receiver on a truck rated for much more. -- nathan w. collier http//7slotgrille.com http//utilityoffroad.com .

i had a 98 2500hd 4x4 xcab that pulled to the left. shims were added to the right side to balance the pull. or it was vice versa. the truck was several weeks if that old. the dealer performed this under warranty. yeah but thats a very slight pull thats more steering/suspension related. the fact that he sees a big discrepency in the amount of brake dust left vs. right indicates a more serious problem. and yes - my 99 2500 also had the 1/8 spacer ring on the right side. i dont believe this applied to the 1/2-ton trucks. .

and youve been a mountain man for how long now nate long enough to know that towing out here is a lot different. - the interstates arent to bad but i didnt really trust my draw tite controller to do the job even on the interstates. the highways and particularly the smaller roads give steep an entirely new meaning. -- nathan w. collier http//7slotgrille.com http//utilityoffroad.com .

on tue 7 jun 2005 212747 -0600 nathan w. collier montanajeeper@aol.com wrote youll have to adjust that one as well. their website claims otherwise. best i can tell you get the base setting and everything else is adjusted by fluid pressure which would be more with a heavier load. thousands of people use the prodigy for everything from a small utility trailer up through the 30+ 5th wheels... its not that hard. im sure i can figure it out but im concerned about trying to teach the wifey how to figure it out. hell nate... my wife figured it out before i did on our 1st short trip... like most guys i was out-teching myself and she not knowing how or why the controller worked just dialed in what felt right and kept on truckin.. mac please remove splinters before emailing .

rick scott wrote yet another person has told me if i have electric door locks on my 99 i do that its a simple switch and getting fobs to get remote entry. two dealers have told me its a module addition and programing and would run about 200 - 250. i wouldnt mind remote entry but not at that price. the factory keyless entry on my 99 ram is the 5-wire relay system. it is wired differently than the ones without factory keyless entry. to determine what you have check out this website http//www.the12volt.com/doorlocks/doorlocks.asp .

i recently ordered a tekonsha prodigy brake controller from http//www.brakecontroller.com and if you recall i mentioned that the power dial was crooked like it was on a bent axle. i called them today to ask them about it and they shipped me out a replacement with a box to return the defective unit in. they didnt even require credit card information he told me to just ship the other unit in. thats good customer service and definately worthy of mention to anyone considering buying a brake controller. -- nathan w. collier http//7slotgrille.com http//utilityoffroad.com .
