tick-tick-tick-tick-tick... I'm a little nervous.
From : bob
Q: hello i recently bought a 97 ram 1500 5.2l 4x4 58k miles. after a few weeks i noticed a slight tick coming from the left side of the engine. it seems to be getting louder or im getting more paranoid. it only starts after the engine is up to operating temperature. i stopped by my local mechanic/buddys place today and he listened. im bringing the truck in wednesday morning so we can pull off the valve cover and take a look. whats the logical procedure for diagnosis check the rocker arm bolt torques first any advice would be appreciated.... take it easy bob scott -----= posted via feeds.com uncensored usenet =----- http//www.feeds.com - the #1 group service in the world! -----== over 100000 groups - 19 different servers! =----- .

any advice would be appreciated.... could also be a loose exhaust manifold... a small exhaust leak will tick like a watch at idle. check the torque on the manifold bolts and the ball-and-socket connection between the manifold and the y-pipe. .

ok i have a 2003 ram regular cab hemi. the headlight switch seems to be very sensitive. i mean if i even tap it it will flicker the lights and all that. they will also flicker when i get in the truck start it and then turn them on. what confuses me the most is that when the lights do flicker the foglights come on for a half second then back to normal. thanks justin .

your rubbing rubber noise is probably the plastic wheel well cover coming into contact the the upper arm as the truck moves in just the right position. very annoying indeed. mine does the same thing and the dealer is at a loss on how to fix the problem other than trimming the plastic away. if you look you will see just how close the clearance is between the plastic and upper arm in the suspension. my guess is as the springs and shocks get a little bit worn/weak it allows just enough contact to make the noise. this truck has a noise in the front end that sounds like rubbing rubber bushings. i have tried my best to locate the noise and the best i can come up with is that it is coming from near the sway bar bushing on the left hand side. this noise only happens when the truck in drive and is rocked or moved somehow. anyone else have this problem or have a clue another noise thats puzzling me is a low hum from the right front i think. when driving approximately 30 mph all is quiet with it but when i make a right curve i get a really loud low hum from the right front. i suspect it is the right front bearing. i am getting a little grease leakage around the hub. ive changed many bearings out before but ive never seen a rotor setup like this one. anyone know how to r + r the rotor and bearings on this truck are there any tricks that i need to know tia jack atlanta .
