thanks for the many poster that have responded to my query about my 99 dodge ram magnum truck engine cut out problem. as a reply to the many posters that asked what the resolution was here goes. i took it to the dealer today and they said the crankshaft sensor was defective and needed to be replaced. they also said the spark plugs needed to be replaced. one of the posters suggested this might solve the problem. and finally they said the fuel injectors needed to be flushed out. i went for all of these solutions $110 for the sensor $30 for the spark plugs $60 for misc. supplies and $595 for labor for about 2.5 hours work. i will let you know if it was successful. the labor charge is extremely excessive and i intend to protest it to daimler chrysler and the dealership. i certainly welcome any comments. i also want to thank all of the responders that have offered solutions. thanks jim monahan jmonahan@ev1.net .

i will almost certainly be willing to guarantee that it was only the plugs. mine wore down very fast and started the exact same hesitation you described and i tolerated it too long. i finally changed the plugs trying bosch and it was a night and day difference. injectors needed to be flushed out defective sensor id wager that they started replacing parts until they found what was the problem...plugs...and charged you for everything. i recommend you get your old parts back and have them analyzed although they will most likely tell you they threw them out. i had a shop try that crap one time while i was out of the country and couldnt effect the repair myself. i got a large bill and the problem still existed. as soon as i got home i found a leaking o-ring on one of the injector connectors which allowed water to get in and short out that injector. i replaced the o-ring removed all moisture and it ran like a champ. the first thing the following morning i stopped payment on the check. i will never allow anyone else to work on anything ever again because of that. i dont run my shop like that and dont appreciate others that do. btw...that shop went out of business less than 6 months after my encounter with them. lesson to learn always always tell the shop to return the old parts to you. if they balk at the request something is fishy. -- laszlo almasi carolina watercraft works inc. 2810-5d yonkers road raleigh nc 27604 loballeng@mindspring.com thanks for the many poster that have responded to my query about my 99 dodge ram magnum truck engine cut out problem. as a reply to the many posters that asked what the resolution was here goes. i took it to the dealer today and they said the crankshaft sensor was defective and needed to be replaced. they also said the spark plugs needed to be replaced. one of the posters suggested this might solve the problem. and finally they said the fuel injectors needed to be flushed out. i went for all of these solutions $110 for the sensor $30 for the spark plugs $60 for misc. supplies and $595 for labor for about 2.5 hours work. i will let you know if it was successful. the labor charge is extremely excessive and i intend to protest it to daimler chrysler and the dealership. i certainly welcome any comments. i also want to thank all of the responders that have offered solutions. thanks jim monahan jmonahan@ev1.net .
