Q: unlike some of the people that get into a flaming match that has no bearing on anything. my our highest thanks go out to you tom. ron . 222 270684 wrrob.248191$9l5.135289@pd7tw2no i have 1992 cummins 4x4 auto.the speedometer has been jumping up and down.if your doing 60 it says 60 then drops to 0 then 40 then 60 again etc.not always but sometimes.the tranny seems to be hunting for the right gear while its doing this.any suggestions has to what is going on thanks in advance. .

i have 1992 cummins 4x4 auto.the speedometer has been jumping up and down.if your doing 60 it says 60 then drops to 0 then 40 then 60 again etc.not always but sometimes.the tranny seems to be hunting for the right gear while its doing this.any suggestions has to what is going on thanks in advance. could be a faulty distance sensor. this mounts on the rear of the transfer case and sends speed info to the speedometer and the computer which controls the 4th gear od if its malfunctioning both the speedo and od engagement will be affected. john .
