speaking of trannys
From : brian
Q: ive noticed in a lot of new cars and now some trucks with auto trannys when your driving highway speed and take your foot off the accelerator the tcc unlocks. step on the gas again and it locks up. this seems to be the new trend for tcc opperation. this makes no sence to me i can not think of any reason anyone would want there tranny to do this. seems to me it just makes the converter wear out faster loose engine breaking use more service breaks and make tranny run hotter. i would rather just have it lock up and stay that way. but anyway was just wondering if anyone knew why the auto manufaturers decided to kill converters with this new feature. thanks. .

hey people spell things wrong every once in a while. thanks for the info. still it seems like a lot of wear to the tcc. besides wouldnt it be just as easy to just wait for a break light activation or an increase in tps to decide to up or down shift hense deciding to unlock the tcc. also who are the aftermarket companies that have a program to stop this madness even if it is not harmfull it drives me nuts. thanks. .

ahh and with further inspection a come to a sop and start off in first before you knock someone for spelling wrong make sure you spell stop right and not sop. no hard feelings ..........just messing with you but on a serious note keeping it locked would be good for service breaks. i meen even if they where going for a minimal amount of fuel savings. i notice that i need to use my breaks way more than i use to. .
