hi everyone. my husband is having a problem opening the rear door on his truck. the bottom latch will not disengage so the door will not open. i stole this post from the tdr maybe itll help. there is a cable that connects the inside door handle to the door jamb handle. i pulled the door jamb handle out by removing the two torx screws. on the back of the door jamb handle you will see a bracket that the cable attaches. the cable has a plastic sleeve on the end where the cable goes into the bracket. on my truck the plastic sleeve broke causing slack in the cable. i was able to unbolt the latch rods from the the handle and remove the cable as well. i then drilled several small holes in each large end of the plastic shield. then i used small pieces of wire to tie the plastic sleeve back together. i used a plastic wire tie to secure the cable back to the handle bracket. i rebolted the latch rods to the handle and reinstalled. everything works. the only other alternative is remove the door panel and replace the cable. be careful you dont drop the latch rod bolt down the door and be careful you dont bend or damage the latch rods. also watch the spring on the handle. you may want to put tape around the handle to prevent any scratches. if that isnt it there was much discussion about penetrating oil lots of time to soak in and kicking the daylights out of the door from the inside or beating it with a 10 pound dead blow hammer. i think i need to go out and lube mine now before it sticks... .

rita berkowitz wrote ignoramus1162 wrote i pulled the axle and installed a new torrington bearing and a new axle seal. im inclined to agree with anthony that its a pinion bearing. chrysler products are notorious for this problem. thats why anyone that is using their truck for serious work has a ford rear installed. the dodge rears arent up to the task. rita fords use sterling axles in their trucks i thought .

kenseth pushed his luck like he did at the earlier dover race but it did not play out this time. at lest gordon and johnson arent in victory lane! at 80 laps kenseth crew told him fuel wasnt a issue. he shoulda pited earlier anyway. gordon and johnson do seem to be on their ass a bit. like him or hate gordon does drive his ass off. cnat stand him or the hendricks motorsports crew. i am a dei and rcr fan thru and thru! though there are a few drivers from other teams that i like and follow. me either but ya cant take it away from him as a driver. ive followed kenseth for years back to a arca race i think. like his style most of the time you dont know hes on the track. roy ill agree with you but only to a point. i dont think that he would have the career and the sucess he has now if he had started with a different team. not saying that he would have been a failure or anything. wait should i have disgreed with you bg .

ive set up about 5 axles a mix of ford 9 and d44 and have the equipment experience and success rate ;^ the issue is i always have done a complete gear swap. i only plan to replace the bearings on my 98 since the r&p look fine and i caught the bearings early beginning of some fretting on the carrier and pinion bearings. since i am keeping the r&p is it possible to use the same pinion depth shims for the new bearings ill replace the shims just use the same pack thickness my reason for asking is that it usually is impossible to remove the new bearing once installed without destroying it should i need to adjust the shim pack further. i suppose i can measure the critical dimensions on the old pinion with the old bearing and make any adjustments for the new bearing being different but since the old bearing is worn i might not get a good reading. alternatively i could hone the new bearing or pinion so that i get a fit that is easier to remove but that is a pain... any ideas thanks -bruce .
