i have a 2004 dakota 4x4 with a v8 engine and automatic trans. the other morning when the temp. was 18 f this is the first time it has been that cold this year in fayetteville nc it made the weirdest noise when revving the engine. it was a high pitched squeak or like finger nails on a black board and fairly loud. at first i though it was the radio but it came from under the hood. a good title for a horror movie after the car warmed up the sound disappeared. it had never done this before. seems to be a cold weather phenomena. anybody have a similar experience or idea what is going on its just plain weird. probably a belt happens a lot up here where it gets cold. thats what i would say too they kinda freeze/stiffen in the shape of the pulleys and have to warm up a bit to not skip a bit. dont tighten the belt up anymore tho ! ron .

i believe the magnum engine was introduced in 1991 hence my confusion on associating roller lifters with the magnum engines. imo there is some confusion on when the rollers actually showed up although im sure it was in the 80s prior to the into of the magnum design. im almost sure i have an 87 block with rollers in it but checking the block would be enough hassle in current weather conditions let alone other tims constraints. im not sure mopar itself knows exactly when they changed it. allpar doesnt make it much clearer as you note since i followed the same sequence you did. max life liberty and the pursuit of any jackass that threatens it. embellished usnavy slogan .

rick myers wrote i bought a cam and lifters for my 86 318 on ebay. the lifters are roller lifters. will these work in my engine without any modifications no it wont work. you can buy special cams and conversion kits but stock parts from later years wont fit in older blocks. -- .bob 1997 hd fxdwg - turbocharged! 2001 dodge dakota qc 5.9/4x4/3.92 1966 mustang coupe - daily driver 1966 ffr cobra - ongoing project thanks for the info. guess ill put them back on ebay. .

my check engine light came on today on my 97 dodge ram 1500 with 5.2l engine. 4x4. automatic transmission. towing package. overdrive. pcm code 37 which is apparently this 37 shift indicator light failure 5-speed or part throttle lock/unlock solenoid driver circuit 87-89 or solenoid coil circuit 85-89 turbo i-iv or trans temperature sensor voltage low 1995 and on; see note 2 which i assume means the transmission temp sensor is bad or the wiring to it is bad. is this a good assumption so wheres the transmission temperature sensor located on the transmission just looking for some hints on where to start the hunt. ** due to spam i no longer receive email responses to ** group postings so dont bother. .

my experience is limited here. i thought a diesel needed to have the injector in the combustion chamber so the injection pump can time the ignition. if the fuel is injected into the inlet manifold one would need to vary the compression in order to time the ignition. any thoughts here on indirect-injection engines the fuel is first injected into a pre-ignition chamber... not the intake manifold runner but a chamber separate from the main combustion chamber. this allows fuel injected at a much lower pressure to begin the combustion process and then spreads to the main combustion chamber. the effect is similar to the pilot injection schemes used in todays electronically-controlled direct-injection engines... begin the combustion process with a smaller quantity of air/fuel slowing the overall combustion and reducing noise. regardless of the type of injection direct vs. indirect the injection pump is still responsible for the injection timing and that process occurs during the latter half of the compression stroke whereas on a gas engine injection occurs on the intake stroke. .

after 92 on the 360 around 91 on the 318 and v6. it was earlier than that. according to allpar.com. 318 got rollers in 88 and the 360 got rollers in 89. max life liberty and the pursuit of any jackass that threatens it. embellished usnavy slogan .
