please some one help me 1990 doge noises

Q: i have a 1990 dodge d150 pickup truck was driving home tonight and all of the sudden a rubbing sound from under the truck stoped and checked everything i could see did not see anything dragging checked the tranny it has fulid got home got on some ramps started looking right about where the muffler is the drive shaft has a rubber gasket like thing holding the drive shaft toghter i guess im no machanice its held up to the body or frame by a u clamp just wanted to know what it is and what is my problem the rubber part is torn to pieces any help would be thankfull thanks again chris .
