spent a night in butte then too the road you mentioned across the beautiful part of id that we didnt know existed! spent 3 days and nights just following the salmon river and camping at some really cool places... thats on trip we want to repeat but without all the high desert... just fantastic country.. well the trip on 87 was with the ex and the four sons................not a bad trip but the ex wasnt much of a camper....the boys loved it tho we camped in gibbonsville just south of the id-mt border on us-93 next day did glacier and camped at st. mary mt ............................................ the trip in 99 was much more enjoyable; we had planned to do some wy backroads driving but had a 91 grandam with that #%$^^&%$% hang-down caast al oil pan on the q-4 no way i was getting off paved roads with it so we made a spur-of-the-moment decision were in buffalo wy to go see glacier deb hadnt seen it...........its a long haul from buffalo to conroy mt; next day drove the gtsr it was 66 and mist at st. mary 34 and blowing snow at logan pass then down thru misoula and the drive from salmon to idaho falls; saw a huge prarie fire west of i-15 north of i.f. the next day went over teton pass 30 degrees and snow then up thru yellowstone and ended up in powell wy .
