overdrive A518

Q: hi due to intermittent shifting into overdrive problems on my 92 dodge van with the a518 transmission i would like to try putting in a manual switch. if i disconnect that plug that is higher on the side of the trans. with an orange and a blue wire and connect a switch going to the battery and ground the other pin would this act as a manual switch i thought id check first in case someone knows something about this as the haynes manual leaves this part out completely. thanks hank .

hi due to intermittent shifting into overdrive problems on my 92 dodge van with the a518 transmission i would like to try putting in a manual switch. if i disconnect that plug that is higher on the side of the trans. with an orange and a blue wire and connect a switch going to the battery and ground the other pin would this act as a manual switch the blue wire is 12v power from the sbec the orange wire is grounded by the sbec to engage the od. all you have to do is cut the orange wire and route the transmission end of the wire through a switch to ground for manual control. the od control wont be totally manual since the trans will still have to be in 3rd gear before the od will engage. .
