o2 sensor /computer problem? Dakota quad 4x4 4.7

From : timd

Q: am i going crazy i put a jet performance stage 2 chip in my dakota and everything was going well till my ck engine light came on. i pulled the chip reset the computer and the light went out for a while. then she popped back on with 0031 0051 0141 0161... all 4 o2 sensors! well i drive a lot and though its a 2001 i have 79k miles. i thought what the heck so i replaced the bank2 sensor2 and the 0161 went away. so i did the bank1 sensor2 and the 0141 went away. i drove a while cause the sensors aint cheap! checked the codes again after about 1k miles... still 0031 & 0051. got the cash together and replaced bank1 sensor1 & bank2 sensor1. reset and everything was great no light no codes just smooth sailing... for about 5 miles! then sure enough the ck engine light came back on and is reading the 0141 & 0161 codes for the first two sensors i replaced. whats going on here is my computer fried from the performance chip that i never even put back in how can i be cooking o2 sensors like this i know i put them in correctly i know how to reset the computer. has anyone ever had this problem does anyone have any ideas .

those codes dont necessarily mean your sensors are bad but that they are sending signals outside of prescribed limits. sounds like it is directly related to that jet chip. i would find their web site if they have one and see if they have a customer feedback section or a questions and answer forum -- from the desk of jesse a. harrington am i going crazy i put a jet performance stage 2 chip in my dakota and everything was going well till my ck engine light came on. i pulled the chip reset the computer and the light went out for a while. then she popped back on with 0031 0051 0141 0161... all 4 o2 sensors! well i drive a lot and though its a 2001 i have 79k miles. i thought what the heck so i replaced the bank2 sensor2 and the 0161 went away. so i did the bank1 sensor2 and the 0141 went away. i drove a while cause the sensors aint cheap! checked the codes again after about 1k miles... still 0031 & 0051. got the cash together and replaced bank1 sensor1 & bank2 sensor1. reset and everything was great no light no codes just smooth sailing... for about 5 miles! then sure enough the ck engine light came back on and is reading the 0141 & 0161 codes for the first two sensors i replaced. whats going on here is my computer fried from the performance chip that i never even put back in how can i be cooking o2 sensors like this i know i put them in correctly i know how to reset the computer. has anyone ever had this problem does anyone have any ideas .
