non working speedo and idiot lights on

Q: my friends 98 dodge sport took a flying leap of faith off the interstate last month and after he landed the speedo quit working and the check engine light is on. i have heard there is a chip that goes out from time to time on these trucks and it is about 100 bucks to replace it. does anyone know what the chip is called and where it is located. or if anyone has any other ideas i would appreciate it. tia side .

even if the speed sensor on the rear axle is still hooked up it can still be bad. my little brother had this problem with his ram... he had a brake light and the speedo didnt work on the bottom 20 mph or so. we got under the truck and tapped on it and got it to completely fail... i believe the sensor is a hall effect type which means its very suseptible to impact failures. only cost him about 50$ if i recall corectly.. sean rec.bicycles.marketplace .

gee steve did you have a good christmas yea man..i had a great one actually. got to see the grandbaby back at thanksgiving and this year all my family here got together and had a good time. today was my grandmas b-day so i went to see her and see that she made it another year into her 8th decade... even got some decent goodies this year.. yours ok -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

lol...65f here...time to go wash the cars... wtf 12 or more inches of snow looks like our rabbit had best get his furry ass in the truck time to make some moneyg as for me for the first snow storm in about 30 years im going to sit in the house and watch it come down. of course ill run out every so often and see if the atv will be able to plow through it. im a little suspect as to whether there is enough downward weight on the blade might need some mods. long about sunday afternoon ill watch the pats kick some assbg denny be careful out there. roy .
