new tires / tire height on '01 1500 off road package

Q: you are correct. the tow hooks on my 2004 ram 2500 off-road do not stick out very far but i did not want them too stick out as far as the fords. and they are different too. i have seen fords hooks do a lot of damange to the rear ends of some cars when theythe cars backed up too close. dodges hooks do not look like a hook but they work better than fords. i had a 2000 ford 3/4 ton 4x4 with the hooks and they were garbarage. one of the things i need to do is add a set of front tow hooks unfortunately my truck didnt come with them - so now as im beginning to search im seeing prices range from $20.00 - $120.00. one of the things i seem to remember from what i saw on the trucks at the dealership was that dodges tow hooks didnt seem to be a big and beefy as the ford tow hooks and they seemed to not extend out from the truck as far as id like to see. maybe im not remembering correctly.... they seemed pretty beefy to me. i took mine off to get the plow frame on. roy .

i was told to use 20 w 50 motor oil in my 85 ramcharger 318 4wd to help reduce the engine knock. isnt this oil a little thick for a 318 any help appreciated .

someplace else would be chicago. i wanted to get new wheels the weld rockcrushers and a suspension lift but i couldnt talk my husband into it. i guess living right outside downtown chicago and having it as my daily driver isnt too practical i do some light offroading from time to time and with the original tires it isnt much fun. ive been looking at the bfgs the goodyear wrangler ats and the bridgestone revos. the revos have the best reviews that ive seen but they dont seem to have a very aggressive tread pattern. i would like to do more offroading but until i get a 3rd truck for strictly onroad driving i cant do all the mods i want to the dodge. thanks! -sofia probably 285/75/16s. bfg makes 305s. but may have an interference problem in front and oe wheels may be a bit narrow. good luck! btw where is someplace else what is the largest tire i can get for the oe 16 wheels without lifting or other mods this is for a ram 2500 quad cab thanks in advance sofia .

hey ken thanks for the handy website. that was very cool. i cant really say if i am happy with the coopers because i have never used any other tires on this truck or any pickup truck for that matter because this is my first. in addition the coopers were already very worn when i got the truck. makes me wonder why they were on the truck when the truck probably had goodyears on it originally and i purchased the truck with only 36k miles..... hmm .

mole wrote thanks miles ill try what you suggest and report the findings tomorrow. i forgot to mention that i observe the behavior at most any operating temperature or air temperature. another thing would the tps or other sensor problems show as fault codes w/o showing on the dash idiot lights as check engine a faulty tps will not likely cause a check engine light. it simply senses the throttle position so a faulty tps just gives bad data and the computer doesnt know to trip a fault code. i have also heard some independent dodge techs tell me improper electrical filters cause the torque converter to unlock. im not sure if they are referring to spark ignition noise being picked up or what. but this normally occurs on new dodges right from the start. .
