Q: i found comments on the net concerning ctds that were receiving poor milage may be able to repair this by cleaning or replacing their iat sensor. see http//www.dodgeram.org/tech/dsl/sensors/iat/clean.htm or http//tinyurl.com/d9t5q . the best milage i get on my 03 ho is around 19 and i have to stay around 65 to get that. most times i get less than that. is there any credence to cleaning/replacing the iat and if so where is it on the 03 ho -- fmb only one b in fmb .

i have a 1991 dodge b250 van and sometimes my spedometer wont go above 40 mph no matter how fast the van is going. whenever this happens the engine starts running really hot. i dont have a tachometer but it feels and sounds like the rpms are high but i have no problem making highway speeds. its an intermittent thing and happens maybe one time out of ten that i use the van. any ideas thanks! .

i went back to purchase it next day and was told no one knew where it was.... not on lot or shop..... but they had something else to show me...... they tried to play me like a banjo. i went and bought a new f150 4x4 lariat instead tow package etc. this would have been my fourth dodge truck from that dealership.....to bad ! henry i have my eye on a 2001 1500 powered by a 5.9 l. on a quick check it looked to have all the extras...xlt extended cab 4x4... 34 k miles... hitch says 10k lbs center loaded car fax verifies milage etc. they want 17.5k. my question can i find all options installed by using vin on the net as an aside.. this has a carpet thing on the dash held by velcro strips glued to dash....looks like a nevermind. if i buy i wou;d like to remove the velcro parts glued to the dash without dammage/ discoloration.. my main questions are options.... limited slip towing package....skid plates etc ! henry .

you are reading this group which puts you head and shoulders above most other vehicle owners! -jerry i have had three 360 powered vehicles a 74 roadunner best 360 ever by far a 77 power wagon horrible in so many ways a 84 or 85 ramcharger cant remember what year i sold it almost immediately back 10 years ago a week after i bought it for an insanely cheap price.. they all did this. from day one. i fixed the problem on the roadrunner and powerwagon by rejetting and/or a metering rod change. the ramcharger was gone after i changed the manifold gaskets. the 74 had no problems with the intake gaskets but the 77 took drastic measures the most obnoxious smelling sealing stuff smeared on them to solve it after changing them several times once by the dealer once by a garage and three times by me. of course if the heads would have been even remotely straight it would have helped a lot. the stock manifold was warped to match the heads so it wasnt too bad but it cracked and i wanted to go to a 4 barrel carb and so i bought an edelbrock intake and it was straight so not only didnt it seal well the damn bolt holes had to be enlarged to put it on. fine quality back in 77. one thing and i dont know how the later ones are set up that made this problem much worse was that the vacuum advance in the 77 caused the distributor pickup to graze the pole piece at a certain point in its travel. i found this out by putting it on a scope and it had a certain rpm point it started misfiring and we found out if the advance hose was disconnected it didnt do it. i ended up buying a direct connection replacement distributor and having it recurved slightly stock it pinged badly and it helped a lot but the cure was a little more fuel.. i passed on buying a ram in 2000 i just couldnt buy another la engine so i bought a gmc instead. after it was wrecked i bought a 2003 hemi ram. i sure dont miss the 318/360.. good luck.. i feel dumb when i read this forum. .

i agree a bigger truck will be better but the turning radius is the problem. with the short drives narrow streets and split rail fences turning and backing becomes a real problem. i have a 2001 ford f250 and a 2005 2500 ram both seem to be too long when you hang a plow on the front. fred i use a 1500 std cab and short bed. i do a bunch of fast-food restaraunt type lots and dont have a problem. i have the quick ratio steering gear and it seems to work good as far at turning radius goes. i had to put a cooler on the return hose coming out of the gearbox to keep from burning the fluid. i still flush it every spring when i put the plow away tho. the ole dodge has to call for help if there more than 5-6 on the big lots. its just more than it can handle unless you want to spend all night getting it done. denny on sat 13 aug 2005 092703 gmt denny wddodge@woh.rr.com wrote anyone plow with a dakota am thinking of buying one to plow a small condo complex with short narrow drives and streets. any thoughts fred i dont but a good friend of mine uses a 93-94 dakota with a 6.5 western. it does fine on driveways and little spots where you have a couple of swipes and go. anything over about 6 and it takes him a while. he does one parking lot for a bowling alley and takes him a couple of hours to do it. i drove by and looked at it one time and had to chuckle it shouldnt have taken over about 45 minutes for the lot. overall hes happy with it. btw i second what roy said a bigger truck will handle it better. denny .

i have a 2003 ram 1500 4x4 qc with the 4.7 liter engine. it has the tow package with the 3.921 limited-slip differential. i did not buy this truck with the intention of towing anything but now i would like to. i may be able to get a good price on a small 23 5th wheel. dry weight is around 4800 lbs. i figure if i am careful not to load more than about 1000 lbs into it i will be well under dodges recommended maximum of 7000+. i have heard that a 5th wheel tows more efficiently than a trailer and so im hoping this will work to my advantage. i saw a recent discussion here that seemed to conclude that one would be crazy to try to tow anything as heavy as 5000 lbs with this truck. im just wondering- has anyone actually tried it does anyone have any recommendations about what the maximum weight should be those of you who own this truck and use it to tow- what do you tow with it thanks... -- to reply by email please edit return address as indicated. .

vacuum hose off somewhere map sensor hose for starters............... i just got through rebuilding my wifes 1989 plymouth voyager 3.0 l engine plus any thing else i would find when i had the engine out like the rack and pinion and control arm bushings. the problem i am having is one that it had before i tore into it so i it isnt anything that i did wrong. my basic reason for the rebuild was to take care of all the leaks which included a blown head gasket. ok the problem is the engine isnt running good at idle. the first part i replaced was the air idle control valve motor. at the price of sensors and valves i hate to just replace them if i an not sure they are defective. the air idle control valve did seem to make some difference but still if i come up to a stop light with the air on the engine will die. the van has 140000 miles on it and still has the original fuel pump but i was told if it is bad there would be more of a high speed problem the idle problem. any suggestions thanks ron in phx .
