i know this might sound dumb. but it might have been overlooked. check the negative terminal to the battery. my wifes 03 was doing the same thing. turned out the negative battery cable was never tightened from the factory... maxidyne wrote my son has a 2004 dodge with the 5.7 hemi engine. last week as he was driving the truck just quit. he had the truck towed to the dodge dealer and when they went to pulled the truck in the next day it fired right up. they could not find nothing wrong with the truck so he picked it up and it ran fine up til today when it quit in the middle of a hay field with a load of hay on it! when this happens the ignition goes totally dead and it wont do anything. the truck was bought used with 12000 miles on it. the battery and everything else is good. anybody else ran accros this problem you have a electroincs module that is failing when it gets hot or possible and connection pulling loose with heat in harness somewhere. i will bet you the its first owner had a simulair problem and got rid of it at 12000 miles out of frustration. -- posted using the http//www.autoforumz.com interface at authors request articles individually checked for conformance to usenet standards topic url http//www.autoforumz.com/dodge-big-dualley-hemi-dead-ftopict127342.html visit topic url to contact author reg. reqd. report abuse http//www.autoforumz.com/eform.phpp=621202 .

i have your answer to the bolt problem go over to alt.binaries.pictures.autos.4x4 and see. -- coasty sempar paratus always ready remove the spooge to reply yep one would think all codes would be generic but that would make sense. like one oil filter one spark plug type one motor oil type one coolant type one transmission fluid type to fit all make and models of a particular auto manufacture. then i woke up from a cold sweat. lets not leave out the one unit of measure... metric or sae not both. stop with the torx heads the 12-point heads the octagonals and any other off-the-wall one-off fastener. yeah... dare to dream... .

i want to replace the rear transmission bushing and seals on a 1992 b250 van 3 speed automatic. although this van has only about 60 thousand miles on it the rear bushing where the spline exits the tranny was replaced once before. the dealer did it the first time and im doing it this time. there is about an 8th of an inch of lateral play in the shaft and this seems to causes the drive line to vibrate at 55 mph. the rear of the transmission case will back off from the tranny about a quarter inch and doesnt want to go any farther. i assumed it would just slide off. before i get the really big crowbar is there something im missing that prevents it from sliding off the speed sensor and all external hardware is out. thx bg. .

its on top of the engine at the rear almost up against the firewall on the drivers side. that it is... right next to the distributor and a royal pita to get to. its an 1/8 npt threaded fitting. id recommend an 1/8-npt to 1/4 compression fitting some 1/4 tubing rated for 100psi another 1/4 compression to 1/8 npt fitting on the other end and an 1/8 coupler to hook to the gauge which should also be of the 1/8-npt variety. in the alternative if you can get a 1/4 compression to 1/8-npt female that will save you a connection because the gauge will screw right into the female connector. all of this including the tubing is available from any good hardware store or any plumbing supply place or the third shelf of my little parts bin in my garage but thats not of much help here. hook everything up start the engine loosen the fitting on the gauge end until oils leaking out thereby purging most all of the air for more accurate readings then tighten again. incidentally this is why i have aftermarket oil and water temp gauges in addition to several others in my vehicle. it prevents things like a failed sending unit from causing unnecessary panic. .

to plumb the guage is roy-speak meaning to install it using tubing and making sure you do it right so its doesnt leak and squirt oil everywhere. the block refers to the engine block... that big thing under the hood with the fan on the front of it. the sender means the oil pressure sending unit. an electronic attachment to a screw-in thingy on the side or top of the block. looks sorta like a little spark plug in a place thats hard to get to and where there shouldnt be a spark plug. could be anywhere but on your truck i think its on top of the engine at the rear almost up against the firewall on the drivers side. remove the screw-in thingy and use pressure fittings to connect your tubing to the place where you unscrewed the thingy from. hook the other end of your tubing to the new oil pressure guage. start truck and read actual oil pressure on the guage. of course you could also take the truck to a mechanic somewhere not firestone goodyear sears or walmart and prolly for no more than an hours labor charge hed tell you what your actual oil pressure readings were pressure at idle at 1500 rpm and at 3000 rpm writes ok...how am i

find a aftermarket oil pressure gauge remove the sender and plumb the gauge. start the engine and see what the gauge reads. . 222 302594 zdye.16723$pa3.12154@read2..atl.earthlink.net i own a 2001 dodge ram 1500 with a 360 cu. in. motor and the off road package thanks to this web site i was able to generate the engine diagnostic code p1281 but i dont know what it means please help anaybody p1281 indicates the ect engine coolant temperature sensor didnt register a warm-enough reading. there are two causes here - either a bad ect sensor or a stuck-open thermostat. both are pretty simple to change but youll need to do a little diagnostic work to determine which ones really bad. measuring the voltage from the ect with a dvm and comparing to a chart of known voltage-to-temperature mappings or using an obd-ii scan tool that can read the ect output directly will help you determine if the sensor is bad. .
