hey all i just purchased a 07 dakota quad cab and im thrilled with the truck. unfortunately i had a flat tire today and while i was lowering the spare i noticed that the drive shaft was literally covered in rust not just speckled but covered in rust. i also noticed a few other components that i couldnt identify to have the same condition. this cant possibly be normal for a brand new truck can it im going to take it to the dealer tomorrow but maybe some of you dodge fans can aleviate some of my fears....am i right to be concerned or is this just a dodge thing thanks! steve .

tom lawrence wrote able to find a manifold & carb. would i have to get another transmission since its controlled by the computer like bir said you can control your trannys limited electronic functions tcc lockup and od engagement with some sensors and switches. see this website for more information http//www.transmissioncenter.net/swapinformation.htm great stuff there thanks! .

on tue 29 may 2007 213925 -0600 nathan w. collier wrote honestly im not too worried about it. so you dont run any type of lubricity additive the conoco fuel station down the road says it includes lubricity additive in the fuel but when i travel i wont always have access. if its not necessary i dont want to go through the trouble. if it is something i have to worry about id rather just trade up to a low sulpher diesel. lsd isnt/wont be avail for highway use anymore. only ulsd. i havent had any problems out of any of mine and havent heard of anyone else having any either. -- chris 05 ctd 06 liberty crd .

on a 2004 durango every couple of weeks when i turn the headlights off the lights actually stay on. if i turn the switch back on and then off i hear a relay or i think i do and the lights go off. is this typically a switch a relay or some other really expensive component -- fredman .

we bought an 87 dakota when they first came out and had to get a 91 with club cab when our son was born. drove it for 240000 miles and had a cracked block. should have gotten a new engine but bought an 03 dakota that my wife now drives every day. well the guy i sold the 91 to had a new block put in and repainted it. drove great for 4 years but now has problems with the computer wiring harness and might sell or trade it back to me. since we dont need emissions checked on 91 vehicles here i was wondering how much work it would be to rip that computer out of the truck and drive it for another 15 years. since its a 318 i should be able to find a manifold & carb. would i have to get another transmission since its controlled by the computer the trannys not %100 anyway. what are my non-electric tranny choices .

edith if nell wants to tell me the one situation where als way of wiring a battery isolation relay has an advantage great! i give up nell. huh ... just slink away from a topic which yall have been questioned on or shown to be out right wrong about i was helping you out there. i doubt poor nell is coming back though. any other questions what outright wrongs did i slink away from lets revisit them too. you attempted to correct me on a matter of punctuation. my reply refuted your argument. you remained silent. awww! shut up edith! is that the best you can do stifle! alas i weary of this banter. no good has come from it. there was a glimmer of hope when you acknowledged snomans foibles. i pity more than i did yesterday. you learned nothing edith if we only heard about the diesels drain tube without the gassers pcv also being brought up some of us wouldnt have learned what we did. -- this explains it all!!! he was home schooled and his mommy made his ges diploma for him out of needle point to go with his pin head and needle dick. -- punkin .

help ive been getting a rather loud clicking/clunking from the front end of my 2001 dodge dakota sport 5.9l quad cab. already the transfer case and the cv drive axles have been replaced and still the noise continues but now the noise seems to be centralized only on the driver side of the truck as before it could be heard thru out the front end. the noise can only be heard when the truck is in drive and moving so it has been hard to pin it down. any suggestions anyone can offer or if you have had this problem please let me know what to do. thank you for any help you may offer -- treasure every day for it could be your last don .

my email to stanadyne last year resulted in a response from them to keep using their product no surprise but the refineries would be adding lubricity @ the refinery to make up for it. it would be interesting to hear from someone @ a refinery to confirm this. http//www.chevron.com/products/prodserv/fuels/diesel/ulsd.shtml#a13 discusses the lubricity issue somewhat stating there is a new astm standard now but it doesnt say if they add any or wether the ulsd already meets that standard. fmb north mexico .
