locking steering column

Q: jnm92300 wrote my problem is a 01 plymouth voyager. parked it took the keys out the steering wheel was slightly turned. now i cant get the key to turn or engage to start or turn the wheel. i have tried everything i can think of and yes i tried the release lever. no luck. im thinking its somekind or safety feature. any help will be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!! grip the steering wheel firmly with one hand and turn it firmly left and right while trying to turn the ignition switch past the steering lock position. .
