i would like to know how to replace the front brake pads on what the general procedure is to remove the wheels remove the bolts holding the caliper in place. pay attention to any clips that are involved in the removal they need to be reinstalled in the proper place. its best if you do one side at a time so if you forget where things go you can look at the other side for a reference. properly support the caliper somewhere on the axle or frame so you dont damage the brake line in any way. remove the old pads. take the cover off the master cylinder and slowly push the piston in the caliper back so its flush with the housing. i use a c-clamp for this but it must be done slowly or else youll spray brake fluid everywhere and its quite an effective paint remover. actually you may be able to do this with the cover on...i never tried. now install the pads using the instructions provided. theres usually some adhesive substance to help reduce squeal that needs to be applied then reinstall the caliper. you should bleed the brakes when youre finished both sides and thats a two man job unless you purchase a kit to do it. if youre careful though its not always necessary but always recommended. good luck. --mike i would like to know how to replace the front brake pads .

i would like to know how to replace the front brake pads on what this is just a wild guess but maybe on a 2003 dodge caravan.... like the subject says pads. take the cover off the master cylinder and slowly push the piston in the caliper back so its flush with the housing. actually this isnt a good thing to do... you could be back-flushing contaminants from the cylinder back into the rest of the system. its better to open the bleeder screw with a piece of tubing attached immersed in a container of brake fluid - just like you were bleeding the brakes instead then re-fill the brake resevoir back to its full level when finished with the brake job. .

thank you for the helpful advice. one more question i would like to ask is what size of torx bit do i use to replace the pads i would like to know how to replace the front brake pads on what this is just a wild guess but maybe on a 2003 dodge caravan.... like the subject says pads. take the cover off the master cylinder and slowly push the piston in the caliper back so its flush with the housing. actually this isnt a good thing to do... you could be back-flushing contaminants from the cylinder back into the rest of the system. its better to open the bleeder screw with a piece of tubing attached immersed in a container of brake fluid - just like you were bleeding the brakes instead then re-fill the brake resevoir back to its full level when finished with the brake job. .

one more question i would like to ask is what size of torx bit do i use to replace the pads you got me there. the last truck i did brakes on was my 95 ram traded for a 03 last year and i believe it was a 9/16 bolt for the calipers. --mike thank you for the helpful advice. one more question i would like to ask is what size of torx bit do i use to replace the pads i would like to know how to replace the front brake pads on what this is just a wild guess but maybe on a 2003 dodge caravan.... like the subject says pads. take the cover off the master cylinder and slowly push the piston in the caliper back so its flush with the housing. actually this isnt a good thing to do... you could be back-flushing contaminants from the cylinder back into the rest of the system. its better to open the bleeder screw with a piece of tubing attached immersed in a container of brake fluid - just like you were bleeding the brakes instead then re-fill the brake resevoir back to its full level when finished with the brake job. .

thank you for the helpful advice. one more question i would like to ask is what size of torx bit do i use to replace the pads ehh if you mean to remove the caliper from the spindle i couldnt tell you for sure. most of the single-piston calipers ive seen have used 3/8 allen-head slide bolts including all rams from at least 94 on up. i know that some years of dakotas used torx-head screws but couldnt tell you off-hand. if youre sure its a torx head and not an allen straight hex shape your best bet is to pick up a set of 3/8-drive torx sockets. most sets range from t-15 up to t-45 or t-50. my guess is that it would be either a t-40 or a t-45. .
