check the rear brake adjustments before assuming the parking brake cable is bad. automatic adjusters are notorious for not working properly. im betting thats whats wrong. with the adjusters set properly you should be able to turn the rear brake drums by hand with only the *slightest* drag from the brake shoes. of course while youre at it it makes good sense to look at how much lining material you have left and the condition of the drums. bryan my parking brake pedal pushes right to the floor without any resistance so i assume my cable is bad somehow .is it hard to replace.........wayne .

i should have said their disk rear brakes if that makes any diff.......wayne maybe... dunno... but there should be an equalizer link that connects the cable coming from the front to the two rear cables. there will be an adjustment there. whether disc or drum brakes in the rear worn pads/shoes will adversely affect the adjustment of the parking brake -- start by checking to see how much lining you have left. if ok adjust the parking brake cable at the equalizer. if the linings are worn to or past the service limit do a rear brake job and then check the parking brake adjustment. bryan .

i am not sure if the caravan uses this system but with most modern rear disk break systems you have a service break when you step on the break peddle this is the disk part and a parking/emergency break that is a drum break located in the center inside of the disk. the parking/emergency break that you say is inoporative may be a drum break assembly. check your cable for adjustment and the equalizer. if it is ok and not broken then look at the drum assembly for bad shoes etc. .
