yawn -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving i put a k&n air filter on it. that explains it the sound you are hearing is called the sandblast effect. it is caused by the tiny particals of dirt the k&n filter allows though bouncing their way through your system. hissing gets louder when the engine goes faster right yeah more air more dirt. something you will get used to. fmb .

thanks all i will have the dealership look at it. but i doubt it will fix anything. i have spoken to others with almost the same truck and they have better results. i am going to put the airraid filter on it to see if that may help after the dealership looks at it. .

well i replaced the trans fluid and filter and the kit came with a rubber pan gasket - so i rtved the gasket to the pan ran a bead on top the gasket and torqued it to specs. road test - no leaks. next morning all the trans fluid had drained out onto the driveway. i added a quart and it ran out the back end of the pan to trans seal. the old seal did not use a gasket just rtv. is that the best way to seal the pan just run a bead of rtv and forget the gasket what a mess. kpg .

jessie herrera herreraj@mail.sdccu.net youre digging it round when it aughta be square hi it sounds like the spring or plastic assembly for your horn on the steering wheel is bad. take off your horn pad and replace the part. your horn will get worse if not addressed. parts like these go bad often and its annoying. any vibration will cause your horn to honk when these are bad. good luck. jessie moparman wrote recently every time i start my 2001 durango rt the horn honks one time. if i open the door with the engine running and then close it again the horn honks. when i shut the engine off and exit the vehicle the horn will honk either when i close the door or anywhere from 2 to 15 seconds later. i dont have a security system except what is built into the durango by default nothing optional. the dealer has no clue what could be causing this. anybody got any thoughts poltergeist!!! sounds like your truck needs a date... ---- id rather take a hit in the mouth than throw a pick kyle orton education is the progressive discovery of our own ignorance --will durant people who read the tabloids deserve to be lied to jerry seinfeld if we dont have a sense of humor we cant have a sense of perspective --wayne thiboux the glass is not only half full the first half was delicious -- me to reply scrape off the end bits... .

your best bet is a car stereo shop. i want to install my xm radio using the hard wire kit which plugs into the xm roady 2 unit and also plugs between the 2004 dodge radio. since the last time i installed a radio in a car a few years ago things have changed. where one plugs the regular radios antenna into the back of the radio the connectors are different. i need to obtain some adapters which will change both the trucks radio and the end of the trucks antenna cable back to the old fashioned type. any ideas i dont know why dodge or mother chrysler had to change them in the first place. .

denny wrote drove the new 05 3500 dually from dallas to churchville ny. left on saturday and got home last night about 6pm. 3088 miles. picked up my new 34 foot 5th wheeler. its the first time ive towed with the turbo-d. i loved my 2500 hemi truck but it couldnt hold a candle to the 610 foot pounds of torque this baby cranks out. it towed like it wasnt there. up the hills down the hills around the corners etc. im sure the duallies help to stabilize the ride better than a standard ass end but i couldnt believe it. my wife kept asking me why i had this shit eattin grin on my face......... anyway im glad i bought it. i got 18 mpg going up to ny and 11 mpg coming home. i only took it outta drive once cause i had to start from a dead stop at the bottom of a mountain but other than that i didnt use the tow switch. i used the cruise control when not in the cities. never had any problem with it shifting allot on hills either. i prolly could have gotten better mileage but i was cruising at 75 to 80 on the open roads for most of the trip. the radar detector saved my ass many a times but i cant just do the speed limit. i have an authority problem and it was nascars big opening weekend. its nice to own a truck you know can pull a building off its foundation.....if i do much more long trips like this one i think ill go ahead an invest in sirus. east coast country radio sucks. country music sucks no matter where you are. bfg roy let me guess......lawrence welk i know other old people that like him.... turn offa the bubble machina.... jeff denny .

steve lusardi wrote i have a 2004 ho and mileage at 4k is 18 mpg at 50 mph. at 70 mph it is 15 mpg. at 90 mph it is 12.5 mpg. i have a 3500 dually. it is about as aerodynamic as an outhouse. here is the clue dont drive fast. steve my new truck is getting only about 15 mpg. my dads 1997 averages 20 mpg or better. my truck only has about 11000 miles on it. is my fuel mileage average or just too early to tell while the engine breaks in i just bought a 2005 ram 3500 quad cab. i think the 4.101 gears might be hurting my highway mialage. my friends older 12 valve ram only has 3.551 gears and most of the 2500 have 3.731 gears. just doing some checks yesterday it seems my gas mialage really drops past 2000 rpm which is about 65mph on my truck. at 65 mph i do get about 18 mpg but the engine is not broken in yet only 500 miles only have had it 3 days! -- posted using the http//www.autoforumz.com interface at authors request articles individually checked for conformance to usenet standards topic url http//www.autoforumz.com/dodge-poor-fuel-mileage-2004-cummins-600-3500-4x4-ftopict104297.html visit topic url to contact author reg. reqd. report abuse http//www.autoforumz.com/eform.phpp=484882 .
