Q: tbone wrote there would be no scale in the world that could give you the weight to calculate the mass while the plane is in level flight because while in level flight the plane has no weight. put an airplane into a wind tunnel and place the wind tunnel on top of a scale. with the wind turned off and planes engine off the plane is at rest on the tunnels floor. note the scale reading. increase the planes engine speed and increase the wind until the plane becomes stationary in level flight. now note the scales reading. tell me tbone will the scale read less more or the same .
