Q: welcome to your new gasoline-powered dodge. 12 mpg is not unusual my 97 has never gotten better than 13 since it was new. i think if you poll this group youll see youre in the ballpark. 12-14 with the v8 is the norm. 14-16 with the v6 is the norm. even on a long road trip w/cruise control i never got better than 15. writes just wanted to see if anyone has tips on how to indrease mileage mine gets 12 around town .

no welcome to the conspiracy of the oil industry and automakers making sure that the consumer keeps paying at the pumps. hell 20 years ago or more with carburetion and big blocks youd get that mileage. with all the advances in control technologies among the auto industry there is absolutely no reason new vehicles with v8 should not be getting 40 mpg or more. then again north american technology does lack behind the rest of the technical world!!1 welcome to your new gasoline-powered dodge. 12 mpg is not unusual my 97 has never gotten better than 13 since it was new. i think if you poll this group youll see youre in the ballpark. 12-14 with the v8 is the norm. 14-16 with the v6 is the norm. even on a long road trip w/cruise control i never got better than 15. writes just wanted to see if anyone has tips on how to indrease mileage mine gets 12 around town .

tuff country or a drop pitman arm skyjacker the distance between the steering box and the drag link is lengthened. if this distance was not increased after raising the ride height the toe would be severely out of adjustment. i personally experienced this problem after installing a 3 lift kit without the drop pitman arm that should have been in the kit. can it be adjusted out enough neither tuff country nor skyjacker think so at 2.5 or 3 of lift and i couldnt adjust mine out enough. maybe david can if the springs dont raise the front of his truck too much. . 222 271932 ozcub.109517$ji3.10040@twister.nyroc.rr.com if you find out i would like to be the first to know. that is the only thing about this truck i dont like . just wanted to see if anyone has tips on how to indrease mileage mine gets 12 around town .

too late now. i should have. chris christanis wrote if you find out i would like to be the first to know. that is the only thing about this truck i dont like . buy a diesel then! i bought my truck for handling loads towing etc. gas mileage was the last thing that concerned me. people place way too much importance on mpg. just not that big of an expense as compared to other living expenses imho and the cost of the truck itself. .

15 city! i find that hard to believe in stop and go traffic . that cant be a diesel. thats a magnum engine were talking about right i thought mileage gets worse with a vehicles age not better. you mean to tell me my mileage will just keep getting better i get about 15 around town on my 2001 qc 1500 5.9l. started out at about 10 when new. i now have about 50k on it. i get around 17 on the highway at 70mph. if i go up to 75 it drops to 15. .

new engines and drive trains are tight and are fighting their own internal resistance when new. as they break in and loosen up a bit the mileage tends to increase some. when they start to really get old then the mileage will tend to drop back off a little. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving 15 city! i find that hard to believe in stop and go traffic . that cant be a diesel. thats a magnum engine were talking about right i thought mileage gets worse with a vehicles age not better. you mean to tell me my mileage will just keep getting better i get about 15 around town on my 2001 qc 1500 5.9l. started out at about 10 when new. i now have about 50k on it. i get around 17 on the highway at 70mph. if i go up to 75 it drops to 15. .

hey redneck my 66 427 big block chev got better fuel economy than a 94 dodge dakota with the 318. how do you explain that!! well for technology your are blind to the propoganda. having owned a couple of big blocks i can only surmise the dak gets no more than 12mpg. then again i suppose if ya had 308s behind the big block you could do a little better. roy .

i just want to know how i can get 15mpg in the city! bottom line- you are not going to. you shouldnt have slept through that part of physics class. i also noticed that the mileage seems better in the summer. or is this my imagination no because gasoline is reformulated in the winter versus summer. it uses more lighter ends in winter for easier starting. the lighter ends also burn more readily lowering your mileage. your vehicle is also subject to more idling which equates to zero mileage ill start watching reality tv shows when i can vote people off the planet. .

final point or bullshit revealed take diesel truck which gets 25 mpg usgallons highway. being a canuck our fuel is measured in liters but also we use a conversion for imperial gallons. the conversion works 30 mpg running the truck. this can also be confirmed by my onboard fuel economy meter which is 9l/100km. take in the factor of cost of diesel versus gasoline running this diesel truck would cost the same as an individual running a gasoline engine which would get 33 mpg. therefore what i quoted was a real world comparison. but for the americans you would see 25 mpg. sorry for the bullshit!! hey redneck my 66 427 big block chev got better fuel economy than a 94 dodge dakota with the 318. how do you explain that!! well for technology your are blind to the propoganda. boyd controls wrote i must be one lucky diesel owner i get 33 mpg on the highway and 21 around town. 2002 3/4 slt 4x4 bullshit ............. jerry to put things into a sharp focus. mr controls other post regarding mileage and technology was also 100 % pure bullshit ill start watching reality tv shows when i can vote people off the planet. .
