From : peter

Q: i found out that my fuel pump has given the ghost whats the most easy way to replace that pump it should be done by lowering the tank but my tank is full. so thats a little bit difficult. could it be done by making a cut out in the bed and make a lid of it thanks peter 1996 dodge ram 1500 v8 5.2 .

that sheet metal is a bit thicker than you think. how do you intend to re-secure the piece that you hacked out of it do you not think that it will begin rusting on those cut lines will look like crap and will always be a weak spot in the bed that will leak crap on top of the fuel tank and pump connections unless you weld it back into place. that should be fun over a plastic tank that is full of fuel. it would be much better to either borrow a second floor jack to help lower the tank or take it to someone that has the tools to do it properly. you might also try to get some of the fuel out of it but hey its your truck. good luck. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving would it severely damage the bed when i do it with a jigsaw im imagining it that where i should make the cut out is only sheetmetal or am i wrong tbone fatchance@noway.now schreef in bericht sure it could if you want to severely damage the bed. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving i found out that my fuel pump has given the ghost whats the most easy way to replace that pump it should be done by lowering the tank but my tank is full. so thats a little bit difficult. could it be done by making a cut out in the bed and make a lid of it thanks peter 1996 dodge ram 1500 v8 5.2 .

greg makes a great point peter. each gallon of gasoline is the equivalent of 12 sticks of dynamite. pull the filler tube siphon the fuel into regulation gas cans then drop the tank. -- budd cochran thanks greg o goo1959@spamcableone.net schreef in bericht i found out that my fuel pump has given the ghost whats the most easy way to replace that pump it should be done by lowering the tank but my tank is full. so thats a little bit difficult. could it be done by making a cut out in the bed and make a lid of it thanks peter 1996 dodge ram 1500 v8 5.2 cut a hole in the bed! sorry man but that is the stupidest thing i have heard in a while! get the gas out of the tank then lower it. greg .

no i would never weld it back over a plastic tank. that would be to dangerous. i was thinking of welding some sort of a flange or strip of metal along the edge of the piece id saw out and screw it back on. btw i have a bedliner and a tonno cover. i think ill do it the proper way anyway and lower the tank. thanks tbone fatchance@noway.now schreef in bericht that sheet metal is a bit thicker than you think. how do you intend to re-secure the piece that you hacked out of it do you not think that it will begin rusting on those cut lines will look like crap and will always be a weak spot in the bed that will leak crap on top of the fuel tank and pump connections unless you weld it back into place. that should be fun over a plastic tank that is full of fuel. it would be much better to either borrow a second floor jack to help lower the tank or take it to someone that has the tools to do it properly. you might also try to get some of the fuel out of it but hey its your truck. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving i found out that my fuel pump has given the ghost whats the most easy way to replace that pump it should be done by lowering the tank but my tank is full. so thats a little bit difficult. could it be done by making a cut out in the bed and make a lid of it thanks peter 1996 dodge ram 1500 v8 5.2 .

squeaks can sound like theyre coming from as far away as the other end of the vehicle but the clue here is that it happens when you release the brakes. the remaining possibility is if you have drum rear brakes is the shoes are retracting across an unlubed guide pad on the backing plate -- budd cochran all thats a good suggestion but i forgot to mention that it sounds distinctly like its not in the cab of the truck. its intermittent enough that whenever i drive someone around and ask them to listen for it it usually doesnt happen. but p when im alone in the cab i hear it clearly. sometimes it really does sound threatening. any suggestions on the cause if lubricating the pedal pivots which i shall do this weekend perhaps doesnt help -- seth. lubricate the pedal pivots under the dash and see if that helps. -- budd cochran lo all i have a 200 dodge dakota sport 6 cylinder automatic with about 32k miles on it. when i release the brake pedal every so often i hear a squeak very metallic sounding or rarer a heavier sqeak almost like a popping sound. its never as i brake but always seems to follow releasing the brake pedal. oddly i havent ever heard this happen when releasing the brake after the car is turned off when parking. i had the dealer 4-star allegedly examine the brakes and they didnt see any mechanical defects although i suspect all they did was take the tires off and examine the brake pads. have any of you all experienced this problem and if so what was the diagnosis i am really fond of my bright red truck and want to keep it in top shape. any suggestions thanks! -- seth. .

last year we had a ford expedition project truck....and this year we have a 2003 dodge quad with the laramie and sport package. in order of what we plan on adding is based upon our experience with the expedition. 1. new dual exhaust by either gibson or magnaflow 2. new air intake system oops...forgot about new headers 3. new throttle body plate 4. some type of low profile step boards 5. a lid for the bed dreaming of....but no one makes it yet 1. new chip or programmer 2. air boost system of some type the new exhaust and air system alone will increase your hp dramtically...and the gas mileage too. the headers and throttle plate will increase it even more. when we are done predict the truck will be putting out close to 510hp to the rear wheels...and still be more fuel efficient. best of luck. steve thinking seriously of buying a new 04 ram 1500 slt hemi sb reg. cab 4x4. anyone have opinions on what options equipment are must have also i want the 20 wheels/tires but my first order of business will be to get a set of snow tires alaska. dont want to buy 20 snow tires. any good ideas dale not camille .

and i got my tank full of it budd. i ordered a new pump today. the salesman told me that this part is regularly sold for dodges. well my truck has about 180.000kms 112.500m maybe not that bad. are there any other sensors or electrical parts e.g. tps that will need to be replaced soon id better have them replaced then get stuck somewhere. peter budd cochran mr-d150spam@citlink.net schreef in bericht years ago i got to see a demonstration of a fuel oil / oxidizer explosive and even though it was only a quarter pound charge it served as a demonstration for us all in the class to have a big respect for flammable liquids. i feel better knowing youre going to do the job carefully. -- budd cochran it wouldnt have been succesfull anyway. i took a closer look at it today and theres a beam right over the pump. budd cochran mr-d150spam@citlink.net schreef in bericht no prob. its just better to talk with you than about you. -- budd cochran yes thats right. ive decided to lower the tank. it was just an idea because many cars have a lid above the pump for easy acces. budd cochran mr-d150spam@citlink.net schreef in bericht greg makes a great point peter. each gallon of gasoline is the equivalent of 12 sticks of dynamite. pull the filler tube siphon the fuel into regulation gas cans then drop the tank. -- budd cochran thanks greg o goo1959@spamcableone.net schreef in bericht peter nospampeter@freemail.triloxigen.nl wrote in message i found out that my fuel pump has given the ghost whats the most easy way to replace that pump it should be done by lowering the tank but my tank is full. so thats a little bit difficult. could it be done by making a cut out in the bed and make a lid of it thanks peter 1996 dodge ram 1500 v8 5.2 cut a hole in the bed! sorry man but that is the stupidest thing i have heard in a while! get the gas out of the tank then lower it. greg .

hopefully someone else will answer your question on the sensors. im not an expert on the later model trucks by a long shot. my concern was the possibility of an explosion. ive not heard anything in here of the pumps being a regular problem but not everyone posts about them that does have probs with them. good luck with the pump. -- budd cochran and i got my tank full of it budd. i ordered a new pump today. the salesman told me that this part is regularly sold for dodges. well my truck has about 180.000kms 112.500m maybe not that bad. are there any other sensors or electrical parts e.g. tps that will need to be replaced soon id better have them replaced then get stuck somewhere. peter .

just completed the job myself with no help. i chose to raise the bed cause i had just filled up when the pump went bad. their are 6 bolts holding the frame to the bed. i removed 3 on the drivers side and loosened 3 on the other side and jacked up the bed on 1 side. had to disconnect filler tubes and paid special attention as to how i blocked it up work all took place with my head between the bed and frame. wire loom had just enough slack. total job took 1 1/2 hours to complete with all hand tools. truck was at work so no air. youll need to pay close attention to the interference with bumper to bed on the right side. i made a little ding there but doesnt show much its behind the bumper. 97 ram 1500 4x4 sport 152000 mi much simpler....remove the bed!! or drain the tank!! much quicker than cutting and welding and all that other bullshit. i found out that my fuel pump has given the ghost whats the most easy way to replace that pump it should be done by lowering the tank but my tank is full. so thats a little bit difficult. could it be done by making a cut out in the bed and make a lid of it thanks peter 1996 dodge ram 1500 v8 5.2 .

the whole gas tank issue one of two things remove the bed or go get a couple of gas cans a gas transfer tube they sell them at wally world or any place with an automotive section and transfer the gas into the gas cans. have fun! on fri 10 oct 2003 190525 +0200 peter nospampeter@freemail.triloxigen.nl wrote thanks budd cochran mr-d150spam@citlink.net schreef in bericht hopefully someone else will answer your question on the sensors. im not an expert on the later model trucks by a long shot. my concern was the possibility of an explosion. ive not heard anything in here of the pumps being a regular problem but not everyone posts about them that does have probs with them. good luck with the pump. -- budd cochran and i got my tank full of it budd. i ordered a new pump today. the salesman told me that this part is regularly sold for dodges. well my truck has about 180.000kms 112.500m maybe not that bad. are there any other sensors or electrical parts e.g. tps that will need to be replaced soon id better have them replaced then get stuck somewhere. peter .
