fuel pump life expectancy

Q: i replaced the fuel pump in my 95 b150 in 1999 and 2002. it is showing same old recurring syptoms again sudden significant power loss after 40 minutes on highway unless tank is above 1/2 full. maybe its just my poor memory but i have endured this for so long i am starting to doubt that the fuel pump is really the problem. can someone tell me is it common to have the pump fail every couple years fwiw 5.2 engine just turned 200k fault codes always include 37 and 45. .
