i know of two places banks and tst products. tst doesnt make an exhaust brake. theyll sell one but theyre not a manufacturer. theres jacobs bd power pacbrake us gear banks and some other lesser-known companies. some work off of vacuum which the 99-00 rams with cummins still had on-board some work with compressed air like the pacbrake which means they need their own compressor and optionally an air tank and some work electrically. some mount to the back of the turbo limiting you to use of the stock turbo or ones that retain the stock outlet size - others mount in-line called remote-mount somewhere in the exhaust piping which gives you more flexibility in terms of turbo selection but typically shouldnt be used in the salt belt - the underside sees a lot more road grime than a brake mounted directly on the turbo especially on the 2nd gen rams where the turbo is up nice and high in the engine compartment. the types that mount to the turbo are usually the easiest to install because they just replace the factory exhaust elbow with their own that contains the butterfly valve banks is the exception here - their turbo-mount brake require the replacement and fitting of a new downpipe. the remote-mounts require some cutting and re-fitting of the exhaust. the auto trans throws a bit of a wrench into the works... youll need an electronic module to go along with this that will lock up the torque converter while the brake is applied. otherwise you wont get very much braking and youll just be cooking your tranny fluid. bd and banks both offer modules to go along with their brakes that will allow them to work properly on the ats. for this specific application id look into both banks http//www.getpower.com and bd-power http//www.bd-power.com. youll probably find the bd-power option less expensive. .
