my new 04 diesels engine oil is being contaminated with fuel. the problem is quite bad - at least 50% dilution after 300 miles. ive taken it to dodge 3 times now and they are still having trouble figuring this out - only 5000 miles on it. they tell me they checked out the injectors replaced the head and now are replacing the injector pump. has anyone heard of this problem with the new cummins ideas places to look thanks could have injectors leaking by. in any event 50% dilution is not good. you might think of getting a oil sample and check to see if there has been any bearing damage. roy .

this out - only 5000 miles on it. they tell me they checked out the injectors replaced the head and now are replacing the injector pump. it sounds like they have no clue what theyre doing. replaced the head last i checked fuel doesnt flow through the head. its possible the pump could be leaking and letting fuel get into the front cover and therefore the oil but its more common that one or more injectors is leaking and dumping way too much fuel into the cylinders. you say the oils getting diluted with fuel. does the level in the crankcase rise or is it the same level but just diluted with fuel whats your fuel economy like do you idle the truck for long periods of time if it were me id ask firmly but politely that a new engine be procured and installed because of possible damage done to the internals due to the oil dilution. barring that id ask that they allow the truck to be taken to an authorized cummins dealer for repair since theyve already had three shots at it and havent fixed it assuming the injector pump swap doesnt cure things. there have been a few very few reports of leaking injectors over at http//www.turbodieselregister.com - ive never seen a report as bad as yours sounds though. .

subject re done deal! from tom lawrence welcome back to the club pal! heh....twas only a matter of time. my 96 was nothing but trouble brakes anyway but i just had to have the 600 cummins. talk to me when you want that sucker cranking out 500+ hp at the wheels heh.....i got my powerstroke kicking pretty hard now so ill probably leave this warranty alone for awhile. - btw that link is bad. here is the better link. http//www.imageark.net/0002/xurlh1.jpg .

are you a trucker by trade j/king ill bet theres nothing wrong with the engine. youre differential ratio combined with o/d is pulling the rpm out of the powerband no big deal. use the clutch and make the shift. i think youre expecting too much from the engine. if youre dead set on a low power complaint go find a chassis dyno and have the thing dyno run. thats the only way youll know for sure. hay has anyone else had problems with power out put when they have the 02 under load mine seems doggy when pulling a 5th wheel 8k lbs and have to down shift on small hills to maintain speeds that this enging should go up in 6th without a problem tks .

subject re done deal! from fmb a/c you will use it more for dehumidifying than for cooling .........i take it youve never been to montana - its so dry out here that bread goes stale before you can eat it. most days we seem to hang around 12% humidity or so. ive seen a few days when ac was needed to beat the heat but only a few. .

subject re done deal! from roy roy@home.net how is it equipped its the slt package. 600 cummins auto 4x4 long bed crew with all the goodies like a/c although not really needed in montana but ya never know where the road may lead us and power package. i was going to get the 4.10 gears but i have my ford already set up for any heavy towing so the 3.73 should give us great power and better mileage. nate nice truck. you are going to enjoy it a lot im sure. as far as the a/c you will use it more for dehumidifying than for cooling. i like those wheels too. they look better and looks easier to clean than those on my 03 2500. -- fmb only one b in fmb .
