Q: just recently purchased the oem block heater for my 01 ram qc 4x4 2500 with 360....anyone ever installed one of these that could offer up a few tips before i dive right into it not much to it... drain the coolant open up the block drains if you can - itll make less of a mess that way. knock out a core plug of your choosing whichever is easiest to get to - and of course one thats the same size as the block heater - pretty sure only the ones on the back are larger. easiest way to remove them is to put a blunt punch big wide flat-blade screwdriver works on the edge of the plug and smack it with a hammer. the plug should tilt out and you can yank it out with pliers. if you didnt get the block drains open be prepared for more coolant to come pouring out. tap the new plug back in gently making sure its sitting even in the bore. now hook up the wires and re-fill the coolant. .

they dont have to be exactly the same max as it is impossible to ever get exactly the same conditions ever. to make the claims you are attemtping to make yes mr. wizard the conditions have to be the same. its called the scientific method. once again you prove that you dont know shit. my claim was for general endurance over an extended period and for that the conditions only need to be similar and they were. actually the brake lines on the nissan are subjected to more abuse from the elements and for nearly twice as long and yet .... in this case all they need to be is close and since the nissan and even my ta were exposed to similar conditions for far longer they dont even have to be all that close. the nissan lines held up 8 years longer and the trans am lines held up 17 years longer so we are not talking a few months or even a year where you could say that the slight differences had any real effect on longevity. i think i see the problem here.... a trans am owner...... all ego and no hp. the car was free but ill agree all show and no go but it did look good and handle well. sorry maxi but this is just more of your senseless spin. please explain how arodynamics destroyed the lines or this magical mudd for that matter. maybe you use water in your brake lines since you now claim they are supposed to hold it but ill stick with brake fluid. vehicle aerodynamics on the underside are typically why dirt and water get into places they should not if the vehicle were sitting still. its not rocket science but it seems to have escaped you nonetheless. the lines are not protected so there is no place where the lines run where dirt and water can not or should not go and the lines should be made out of a material that can deal with it. the same is true on the nissan and in that case they are much closer to the ground and salt spray as well as dirt and water on wet roads and yet they survived for 8 more years and counting. similar exposure and nearly twice the life so far care to dance again reading a new skill that you have yet to master their maxie i am not the only one with this problem as i am responding to someone else with the same year truck that has a much worse condition of it than my truck did. actually you said the same crap about the bad bearings in the 9 1/4 rear. yup because i. among many others dont believe that big business goes out of its way to rip off you and a select few others. i never said that they did either. they do go out of their way to increase profits especially if a takeover is possible and the customer is not their primary concern that would be the stock holders and even then the board members come first. good luck figuring out when the germans bombed pearl harbor. you had better offer that to tom he made the claim. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

oops sorry. it is a 98 24 valve and the lights are the abs and brake lights and at times the check engine light. .

if it were the crank position sensor he would have got a check engine light and probably an error code of p1398. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving thanks for all your replies. right now the truck is still in the shop. we had it towed to the shop because on the phone the mechanic said if it was the fuel pump which he was sure it was it would be covered by our extended warranty. but now the mechanic says the fuel pump is fine. he says he cant start it it turns over but wont start. now says we need new spark plugs wires rotor and cap. i might have believed him if i it werent for the fact that i changed the spark plugs about 8 months ago. he said he knew that but we didnt put in the correct ones dodge factory plugs this conversation with the mechanic was between my wife and him by the way. how could my truck run for the past 8 months if i had installed the wrong plugs... a lot of people i talk to feel it is the fuel filter. origin of problem. the odometer was around 270 when my wife took the truck out for some kind of errand. i usually get 300 miles per fill up. she drove about 3 miles and starting losing power. she had to pull over. she knew it wasnt good so she turned around to go home. she only had enough power to get it up to 20 mph the whole way home 3 miles. i have run out gas twice with this truck and i got the exact same symptoms lose of power. but the only difference in her episode was that she was able to go a much farther distance. in my two cases i lost power drove for another 500 yards and could go no further couldnt start it again. out of gas. all this took place while i was out of town. her father put about five gallons in it and it wouldnt start. it would turn over but wouldnt start. so we had it towed to the shop. i dont really believe we need the new wires plugs rotor and cap. i think its the fuel filter clogged partially with some junk that was in the tank. thats why some gas was getting through and allowing my wife to make it back home. should i just tell the mechanic to change the fuel filter and go from there see if that works dont you think he should have suggested that in the first place any help would be great. thanks could be just the crankshaft position sensor. but what do i know. coasty could be but other codes should have showed up too with the starting issue especially if it is plugs/wires you should get a miss fire code or with a bad/ clogged fuel pump/system a lean run code. but alas poor steve k no codes. coasty .

block heaters if thats one of the units installed in the lower block you might run into the problem i had on a 318 v-8 my son had in a 72 dart . . . only one side of the block got warm from the heater and the other side was as cold as the rest of the outdoors. so you might need to run a pair on your v-8. . . .we just fixed the choke and crossover passage unplugged it instead. budd .

im having a problem with my local dodge dealer. its tucson dodge if anyone is interested. called them and asked if there was a tsb on my truck about the fuel mileage. they asked for the vin number and i gave it to them. they said no tsbs on that truck. people keep telling me there is. so i called again same answer. someone on the mml emailed me a link to thishttp//dodgeram.info/tsb/2004/18-037-04.htm so i called the dealer back and asked why i was not told about this and had to do my own investigating to find it. they gave me the run around and im a tad upset about it. they actually told my this procedure may reduce the fuel mileage. how can i find out what the truth is and how can narrow down my searches to find tsbs for this truck and is this worth doing http//dodgeram.info/tsb/2004/18-004-04.htm al al this tsb you reference will do nothing to help your fuel economy so the dealer wasnt giving you the run around. it addresses exactly what it says it does. as a disinterested third party i would be happy to check for applicable tsbs and advise you accordingly. just email me with your vin and i will check for you . what kind of fuel economy are you experiencing city highway laden/unladen any mods to the truck different tire size than oem driving style tire pressures all of these can and do! impact your fuel economy. over the years the biggest factor ive found in poor fuel economy is the nut holding the steering wheel. ^ chryco service manager member sae sorry but here is what the tsb says http//dodgeram.info/tsb/2004/18-037-04.htm a.. improved fuel economy - a new ecm calibration has been developed which should provide customers an average fuel economy improvement of approximately 1 m.p.g. a.. reduces white exhaust smoke on cold start at temperatures below 50 deg. f 10 deg. c. a.. improves accuracy of the fuel economy calculation in the overhead console display. note the first line. my mileage is very good at low speeds. if i drive fast like 75 it goes way down. truck is completely stock has 3.73 gears and a six speed manual. here is why i think something is nuts. pulled a trailer and race car to northwest phoenix and drove the truck back completely empty. kept between 60 and 65 on the way up and about 75 on the way back. the trailer and race car have to weigh over 5000 pounds. got better mileage on the way up. and on the way up i took the wrong exit and got stuck in stop and go traffic for about 45 minutes. makes no sense to me. al shoot my 05 sounds like the same setup and gets simmular results. my responce keep her round 65 on the interstate. .
