Q: hmm then the old chevy claim is double bogus 283 hp / 283 cubes in 56 had to have been a prototype engine and not a production model like the hemi. you know im honest red but obviously gm isnt worried about being honest. bg budd in 56 chevy got 283 horse out of a dual quad 283. minor point 283s were for the 1957 chevys. 56s still had the 265 just trying to keep you honest g politics the gentle art of getting votes from the poor and campaign funds from the rich. .

gigolo kerry wrote kerrys facts just dont add up but bush and cheneys lies do. said it before will say it again....and i dontknow whats so hard to understand... there are no good choices this go round...but i know whos stood behind his convictions and not waivered to gain votes... now...do we want a guy in office that thinks the world is a better place with saddam out there or one that did what he set out to do also...remember...north carolina didnt want edwards...and we still dont. .

but the opinion polls say different. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving need i say more ill bear that in mind when im looking for a good debater. oh and then theres another unbias opinion. lockhart debate consensus a draw unbeknownst to kerry adviser mike mccurry a c-span camera quietly followed mccurry as he found kerry adviser joe lockhart on spin alley floor and asked him his impression of the debate. lockhart candidly said to mccurry the consensus is it was a draw. .

i doubt that you would need to do anything with the computer. you do need to check to see if this converter is emissions legal for your vehicle in the state that you live in. some states require the factory converter be in place. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving thanks for the heads up justin. that makes sense. who would i need to goto to have the computer reprogramed and how much am i looking at think if i take it to a muffler shop to have them weld on the new cat that theyd be able to do it check with dodge and then think about changing it remember if you change the exhaust to aftermarket parts you need to have the computer reprogramed. if not you will experince problems. trust me i have been there .

hello all i am the proud new owner of a 1998 1500 ram 4x4. the truck has low miles for the year 71000 and is in very good shape overall. however one issue that i cant seem to resolve on my own is a growling noise while driving. it seems to happen when driving up steady inclines at around 50-51 mph although it has happened at higher speeds too. if i immediately let up on the gas pedal the noise goes away and if i then accelerate through that speed it doesnt seem to happen again until i settle back into that zone we have a few 50 mph roads around here that find me driving in that zone fairly often. at first it sounded like a vibrating cowling or something like that but after hearing it a few times i sense that it is meatier than that almost like gears not quite meshing. it seems to eminate from underneath the truck somewhere behind the cab. does anyone have any ideas on this thanks in advance... .

does it really make any difference i believe that you and everyone else knew what it was referring to. be more tolerant! dddd over a period of time there have been frequent misspellings of the word cummins cummings in posts and protests from the insulted. a few days ago i noticed a similar misspelling in the marketplace. i was in a tractor supply store looking for a can of spray paint. on the shelf there was a section for engine paints. right beside the chevrolet orange and ford blue was a section with cummings gray. paul johnson .

you have every right to post it here. just put ad or fs in the beginning of the message header and it is no longer spam and those that dont want to download things like that can ignore it. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving so basically the only problems i have heard so far is someone who used the oil in a fork lift back in 1972 i can see how being on the bleeding edge could have its drawbacks as amsoil was introduced in 1972. well i guess i can be fairly encouraged about the product from here on out. unless i get a rash of posts with people listing oil analysis and repair bills that were caused from using amsoil. thanks all for your posts and thanks bud for the detailed response you were one of the very few people that actually gave an answer based on experience. when i say very few i mean the only one! dan benedix www.howlingmotorsports.com as an aside i am in the final stages of building an electronic amsoil price book to make ordering very simple. i probably will not post the url to this group so i dont get flamed for spamming but if you are interested drop me an email ecatalog@howlinginc.com he logged the data available at that time which was rebuild records around 73 or 74 fyi. budd just curious budd did the monkey really record and analyze the multitude of data required to state no improvement budd cochran wrote fyi a factory i worked at in the 70s used amsoil in 3 of 20 gasoline powered forklifts for 6 mos running 24 / 7 with no improvement in performance economy or longevity. .

i know youre using the old girl 331 just as an example and yes they did have a great hp to ci ratio but what would they rate that 331 at using the system they put in place in the early 70s ie gross vs net. jeff youre correct the old gross rating was the sae j-609 standard. the feds said the auto makers were misleading the public using this standard and forced them into a new net rating. among other things it mandated a higher ambient temperature 85 vs. the 65 previous higher humidity and all accessories installed and operating including a full exhaust system. about this same time auto makers started preparing engines for the coming low / unleaded fuels and lowered compression ratios making a direct comparison somewhat difficult. my take is that the new system took roughly 40 hp off the hp engines. compression ratios lose / gain about 4% per full ratio. the early hemi didnt hit the magic one hp per cubic inch rating until 1956 when the optional engine hit 355 hp from the 354 engine as opposed to the standard 354 / 340 hp. sorry but the 331 hit 1hp/ cu. in. in 55. in 56 chevy got 283 horse out of a dual quad 283. while the new hemi isnt a true hemi neither was the 426. there were discussions about that way back when too. regardless of what it is or isnt the new engines are very impressive. just twenty two years ago we were all stoked about fords new 302 ho engine 157 rompin stompin horsepower with a two barrel! yuck! a point of reference 1982 our own beloved 318 2 bbl in truck trim was rated 143 hp cars with their more elaborate emission control systems were down to 120 hp. the late hemis combustion chamber was a true hemispherical shape but the valve train was tipped to ease pushrod layout. the hemi stands for hemispherical not the valve train design. budd the chrysler 300 was introduced in 1955 with chryslers then hottest engine the 331 cid 300 hp hemi hence the 300 name. http//www.chrysler300site.com/cgibin/history.cgi1955 and then for the trivia chevy while im not a chevy fan and dont follow them too closely the following chart is pretty good. the only real sigificant error i see in the chart below is the 270 hp listed as a single four barrel. that was basically a fuelie engine without the fi unit and with dual 4 bbl carbs. from http//www.nastyz28.com/sbchevy/sbsum1.html year cid carb comp hp/gph @ rpm net trq @rpm bore stroke models/comment 1955 265 2 8 162 4400 257 2200 3.7502 3 pass 1955 265 4 8 180 4600 260 2800 3.7502 3 pass 1955 265 4 8 195 5000 - - 3.7502 3 vette 1956 265 2 8 162 4400 257 2200 3.7502 3 pass 1956 265 2 8 170 4400 257 2400 3.7502 3 pass 1956 265 4 9.2506 205 4600 268 3000 3.7502 3 pass 1956 265 4 9.2506 210 5200 268 3000 3.7502 3 vette 1956 265 8 9.2506 225 5200 270 3600 3.7502 3 1957 265 2 8 162 4400 257 2400 3.7502 3 pass 1957 283 2 8.5005 185 4600 275 4600 3.8752 3 pass 1957 283 4 9.5006 220 4800 300 4800 3.8752 3 1957 283 8 9.5006 245 5000 300 3800 3.8752 3 1957 283 fi 9.5006 250 5000 305 3800 3.8752 3 pass 1957 283 4 9.5006 270 6000 285 4200 3.8752 3 pass 1957 283 fi 10.501 283 6200 290 4400 3.8752 3 pass .

with the debate tonight having a live audience of undecided voters candidate john kerry is having a difficult time deciding whether to be up on the stage with president bush or sitting in the audience with other people who cant make up their minds lol. we have a pool going in my shop. how many minutes into the debate before kerry breaks the rules this time. last debate he had a copy of illegal debate notes in his pocket which everyone plainly saw him take out. at the vp debates pretty boy kept interrupting cheney and kept mentioning keryy by name even after the moderator told him to not mention kerry by name. these dumocrats are a piece of work that only bonehead......errrrr t-bone could love. john z kerry president t-bone steak houses .

steve w. wrote its his democratic buddies who drafted and are trying to pass the bill. so if it ever sees the light of day he would probably sign it. wtf you talking about ............ it was charles rangal that sponsored the bill and he certainly isnt a friend of bush. whats really funny it was defeated with only two votes being cast in favor of the bill and rangal voted against his own bill. the jackass was simply trying to stir up trouble. jerry .

you sure this is the point this time or are you just being a pontificating know it all ;- seriously toyota has had a great first year...their victory totals will likely continue to improve until they reach the wall ...otherwise known as the nascar rule change. you involved in their program ken since toyota does not make a 5.7 liter ohv engine they had to look in the parts bin probably from an old farm tractor. as usual you folks are missing the point. the nascar insiders didnt expect toyota to win any races until the second year.... .
