just read the post..... .have you checked to see that the gasket is still in place that seals the throttle body to the air cleaner snokel this is common for this to happen abd you will hear a hiss noise does anybody know why my 98 ram 5.9l is hissing when i accelerate .

fmb wrote i put a k&n air filter on it. that explains it the sound you are hearing is called the sandblast effect. it is caused by the tiny particals of dirt the k&n filter allows though bouncing their way through your system. hissing gets louder when the engine goes faster right yeah more air more dirt. something you will get used to. lol... could it be the increased intake sound over the stock set-up i remember what my dads 429 4bbl used to sound like when id turn the lid on the air-cleaner over for extra power. ;- i suspect any dirt particles would make an entirely different sound than a hiss. jeff fmb .

i have a 2004 dodge 2500 w/the cummins t-600 off-road 4x4 package. i have had the truck up to 90 mph with no vibration but the brake dust is a lot. i was a ford owner for over 25 years and i had an expendition that ford could not fix. so screw ford! i have about 500 miles on the 05 2500 4x4 qc sb cummins. dodge and cummins seem to have come a long way from my 2k. dont see any real need to bomb it. it accelerates nicely handles predictably. the interior has some nice touches. the under console storage and the under rear seat flat floor thing is pretty cool. body fit is good no wind noise. the only thing not to like is a vibration/drone at 65mph that can be addressed and the usual tons of brake dust. roy .

hi what year and kind of vehicle is it i might be able to help. jessie kgharris wrote check engine light has been on for about 2 months got it checked out when it first came on at autozone. they said the code reflected a small minor fuel system leak perhaps a faulty gas cap replaced and reset check engine light or a vacuum leak. well the engine check light is back on... any ideas on where to start thanks kevin .

the largest problem occured when you used silicone. silicone lubricated bolt threads. when you torqued the bolts to spec you over-torqued them with the lubricated threads thus allowing the gasket to be pinched or pushed from its place. also the silicone allowed the the gasket to be slippery enough to move when over torqued. brent .
