Cruise control

Q: the other day i noticed a burning wire smell under the hood of my 99 dodge dakota slt 318 and now when i hit a bump my cruise drops offtwo miles an hour like you are tapping the coast button. i have done a good general inspection looking for a bare wire that might be grounding but can fing none. in the old days you could tell the cruise by the two cables coming out of it today im not sure what im looking at. please direct me to the cruise and then any other ideas.....where do i start -- orin johnsten www.geocities.com/orinjohnsten .
