Q: yesterday i saw in passing a great soft cover on a dakota quad just like mine. it didnt have a ton of obvious buttons---looked real smooth. anyone know what brand this is experiences/recommendations for a soft top thanks. mine is an xtang ann arbor mi tonneau no snaps works like a giant zip loc bag. i really like it cause it keeps people from tossing trash in the back when in a parking lot and seems to add about 2 mpg on highway. my first one lasted about 7 years. you can pick one similar at most after market truck specialty stores. 94 - dakota extended cab slt v8 5 speed 135k going strong. dufus .

i have a black 94 ram 2500. about 2 years ago a small spot appeared on the hood where the clear coat was apparently wearing off. it has spread like cancer onto all of the horizontal surfaces of the truck. does anyone know of a recall for this problem or am i out a paint job. the sides of the truck look brand new. thanks for any replies. zoso i had the same problem on my 94 1500. it started with the hood which i had re-painted for $300 and the roof was starting to wear off when i sold it last summer. i dont think there was a recall issued and its doubtful youd get much help 11 years later. ron w. .

the driver door module ddm combines a power lock switch a driver power window switch with an auto-down feature master switches for each passenger door power window a power window lockout switch a power mirror selector switch and four power mirror adjustment switches in a single unit. the switches in the ddm can be diagnosed using conventional diagnostic tools and methods. this is out of the service manual. it makes it sound like you have to replace the whole gd dmm. i notice the other day in my truck that on the drivers side the switch for the passenger side window does not work. the passenger side works fine and the other switches on the drives side work fine. is there a simple plug in module/switch for the drivers side operating the passenger side or will i most likely have to replace the whole module on the drivers side thanks for any help john 2003 dodge ram 1500slt 4x2 .

btw disconnecting the battery will not clear a code in obd 11. maybe not in version eleven but on my 95 with obd-i and my 99 with obd-ii thats roman numeral two disconnecting the battery for a bit would most certainly clear any stored codes. on my 03 the codes are stored in some kind of non-volatile memory and do not clear with the batteries disconnected. his 97 will forget all codes without power. as for the ce light remaining lit it depends on the particular problem detected. some problems will set the cel and leave it on until manually cleared... other events only illuminate the cel when the problem is actually existing. .

check out bridgestone dueler revos... best tirre ive ever ridden on. im leaving ca for alaska for a few weeks of travel with my 04 arctic fox 5th wheel behind my 03 2500 laramie ho 4wd. i already have 60k on the original tires and want to change them out before i leave. i was in talking to big-o today as that is where i have bought for the past 15-20 years or so and he is recommending the big foot a/t. he says it handles wet roads much better than the mich. i have on there yeah not much traction on the originals. also rated for 70k miles. he did say there might be a bit more road noise but not much. these are lt265/70r17. more tire info at http//www.bigotires.com/index.asppg=2&sub=12b&catid=01big31 or http//tinyurl.com/5rmh4 for short. for 4 tires he will toss in the alignment. this is a tire i expect to last 24 - 30 months so i want to have something that wont be bothersome. is this a good tire are there better ones out there in the $7-800 price range the only complaint i really have about the michilins sp is the lack of traction on wet pavement. -- fmb only one b in fmb .

just bought a 04 dodge ram 1500 quad cab from a local dealership. i drive away from the lot and after about 25 minutes of driving notice the check engine light has come on. next day i bring it to the dealership they check it out and tell me that because the truck has an aftermarket dual exhaust it is causing the light to come on. being that i am somewhat uneducated when it comes to vehicles i am hoping to get a second opinion from someone here. does this sound like a likely scenario and what can be done if anything to get the light to go out short of changing my exhaust system still under warranty did they offer a warranty what was the code thanks -- posted via a free usenet account from http//www.tera.com .

well if the exhaust system has been tampered with.... still i believe you may have a possible cause for action against the selling dealer. warranty of merchantibility if nothing else. what you have right now wont pass an emissions inspection unless they fudge it and thats federal! stop calling and stop talking. immediately put your complaint in writing and send it certified to the dealership attn general manager also immediately file a complaint with your local better business bureau. do this immediately. dont threaten to do it; do it right now to protect your rights. handling it over the phone or in person does not protect your rights. putting your complaint in writing and sending it certified mail return receipt requested will protect your rights. make a copy of the letter for your own file too. ckreipel@yahoo.com writes geekboy wrote just bought a 04 dodge ram 1500 quad cab from a local dealership. i drive away from the lot and after about 25 minutes of driving notice the check engine light has come on. next day i bring it to the dealership they check it out and tell me that because the truck has an aftermarket dual exhaust it is causing the light to come on. being that i am somewhat uneducated when it comes to vehicles i am hoping to get a second opinion from someone here. does this sound like a likely scenario and what can be done if anything to get the light to go out short of changing my exhaust system still under warranty did they offer a warranty what was the code thanks i dont know what the actual code was but they told me it was for the catalytic convertor which is still under warranty but they say there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. .

get a second opinion from someone here. does this sound like a likely scenario no. and what can be done if anything to get the light to go out short of changing my exhaust system lets start by finding out what the code is. cycle the ignition switch three times on-off-on-off-on - do not turn it to start - just to on when all the dash lights light up. when you turn it on the final 3rd time the odometer will display one or more obd-ii p codes like p0455 p0336 etc. copy these down and post them. .

hey does anyone out there know much about minivans i want to buy a 2000 or so dodge grand caravan plymouth voyager or chrysler minivan and want to use it not only as my occasional family car but also as a commercial vehicle in my small construction business. if i ever have really large jobs i can always have lumber delivered but still i would like to have the towing capacity and interior space to load it up with as much as possible if i can.. i also intend to put a heavy duty roof rack on it too if anyone has any suggestions... basically ive heard that there are a few models that have oversized radiators heavier duty suspension packages and better more fuel efficient engine or what not for what i need to do.. i would like the option of maybe even hooking up a trailer or something sometime if i ever needed to as well if i ever get around to it in case i ever need to haul away debris to the dump or something such as that.. are there any mini-van enthusiasts out there that may be able to give me some good and useful advice i want to buy one soon but i want to get the good model.. also im interested in the awd all wheel drive and would like to get that option if it seems good. any or all advice would be appreciated! thanks ben in boston in a nutshell....dont get any make of mini-van for what you are describing. they are light duty people movers and not much else. what i think you need is a full sized rear wheel drive cargo van. i think youll get much better service out of it. wait a minute!! you have a mini van and it hauls you around just fine. the weight has to be about the same.vbg and this coming from the lard ass that has to have a 2500 diesel to haul it around. didnt you tell me one time that you could hook a ride on the train on your way to work no airplane big enough did have to get any wide load permits to get ya to fla you gonna put e rated tires on that new ride youre getting maybe you can bungy cord the doors to give ya a little more room there. bg can ya tell im bored tonight hmmm... i make one little weight comment and our floppy eared buddy is all out of shape. not bad shots though 6 of them all in one paragraph. i am impressed. heres your chance and ya better take it. pats play tommorow night at ny giants. take the plunge rabbit!! gbfg decisions....decisions......which looser east coast team do i wanna pick........ill go with the giants g denny .

thanks tom for that link. sorry about the liter conversion - i knew it was a 318. the process of retrieving the codes worked. i got 31 evap solenoid circuit - short or open in the evap solenoid circuit. check for loose broken or shorted wire in the charcoal canister purge solenoid wiring and connectors. 37 torque converter clutch solenoid ckt or trans temp sensor too high or low - open or short in ckt wiring or connectors. voltage out of range at transmission temperature sensor input. from the 1995 truck ram manuals the trailer towing package includes a transmission coolant temp sensor while the standard package doesnt. the fault code detection system is probably the same for both models. this could cause the low no voltage indication....no sensor to send any voltage. so if this is a intermittent problem would it appear this is just a loose wire or could this be something much worse hate going to the stealer here. when i took it in for a 60k check up i mistakenly forgot to ask what it would cost. when they called me 5 hours later i went to pick it up and they gave me a bill for $1200+. they did not fix anything that was just for the routine maintenance replace fluids spark plugs etc. after i picked myself off the floor went to the bank for a personal loan i vowed never to go back. id like to be able to fix this myself if possible. any help would be appreciated. thanks. ok please help me with a different question. ive got a 95 1500 with a 5.3l theres your problem - someone transplanted a chevy engine into your dodge its a 5.2l engine aka 318cu.in. engine. 88k miles. occasionally the check engine light comes on. sometimes when i start it and sometimes when its been running. it doesnt stay on. you can check the codes yourself. see here for details http//www.dodgeram.org/tech/gas/trouble/pcmfaultcode.htm .

so if this is a intermittent problem would it appear this is just a loose wire or could this be something much worse okay - its the code 31 thats setting the check engine light. the code 37 wont light it. i used to have a code 37 on my 95 v10 all the time... the big cooling system kept the trans fluid cool enough that it would trip the code. if you dont notice your torque converter clutch mis-behaving i wouldnt worry about it. as for the evap. solenoid well - check the wiring and test the solenoid for proper resistance should be 100ohms. if it isnt replace the solenoid. .
