Q: just recently has trouble and had spark plugs wires and thermostat changed my 99 durango over heats every single summer so we have to have a new thermostat put in every winter so it will warm up and run better and then changed to a much cooler one in the summer so i dont overheat on the 11 miles home from work. anyhow its acting up again. i have the biggest engine available in the 99. acts like its not getting enough gas. no problems when the car is real cold but the warmer it gets the worse it runs. like driving a train it chugs. my budget cant take another hit already have $5000 in this thing since a new transmission was put in at 76000 miles last december. any advice please dont tell me to get rid of it. im already in the market for a chrydler pacifica but i want to keep this for my 17 year old son as this car as been rear ended 3 times and ive come out the winner each time with the other cars completely totaled! all i ever need is a new bumper and hitch. i cant imagine any *modern* vehicle running correctly with you screwing with the thermostats like you do. the computer needs to see your vehicle hit operating temperature. id suggest you find a capable mechanic and figure out how to fix the problem; id be suprised if your summer overheating and winter chugging problem arent related. .

sounds to me like there is a problem with the ignition switch and some one is turning it to accessory vice off then taking the key out. this would leave things on like the stereo etc... and would kill the battery. i would find out if the switch is bad replace it if it is and see if the problem still exists. hello i bought the wife a 98 dodge ram 1500 a couple of weeks ago. in that time she has drained the battery twice. basically twice in 2 weeks. here is how she explains it to me. when you turn off the truck if you turn it back to far you can still take the key out but somehow the power to something is still on and drains the battery. first time she did it; ok her dad was there while she was visiting and they jumped it with one of his v-8 rigs. second time it was 0400 am in the morning and i had to go outside in the rain and jump her with our little 4 cylinder toyota. at first it didnt want to jump the big dodge. i dont want up again at 0400 in the morning because she does this again. is there a way to prevent this or is she doing something wrong tim .

hockeydad wrote seeing as the hub was only a few months old i took it back to autozone and got my money back. i then bought a high quality unit from another more reputable parts store. the hub fit properly with about 1/16inch end clearance between the axles. what brand of hub gave you problems what brand did you end up with .

i had the same problem. a replacement ingition coil did the trick hope this helps. the other morning i went out the start my 1998 dodge ram 4x4. it wound not strart. it turned over just find. it was very cold and damp out. my coworkers and i pushed it into a warm hangar. i attempted to start it in about 2 hours. it started fine. i drove it around and restarted it several times. i then left it out without starting it for just over 24 hours. again it would not start and again bringing it into a warm are this time for only and hour allowed it to start with ease. the saga continues. i drove and started the engine for about a week even in very cold weather with no problem. then yesterday on christmas eve i went out to start it after it had sat for 24 hours and again it would not start. the temp was above freezing but the humidity was extremely high we were experiencing light rain and fog. this would lead me to believe my problem is moisture related and not temp. has any one experienced this problem does anyone know how to check i took it to a mechanic and he said that i had to have the vehicle where it wouldnt start for him to check it out. tex .
