a stuck hazard switch will prevent all signals as well as the brake lamp from working. yes and assuming the o.p. checks that first easy enough to do without success then its still something in the mf switch itself which the hazard switch is a part of. since theyre really not servicable without getting really creative it will require a replacement. .

check your hazard switch and make sure that it is not partially depressed. you might want to cycle it a few times and while you are at it make sure that the hazard lights are working. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving my brake lights and turn signals arent working on my 88 dakota. its a two filament bulb. the dimmer filamnet comes on with the head lights but the brighter filament wont work. all fuses seem to be ok. i heard about checking the brake switch around the pedal. how should i go about doing that would that problem also cause the turn signals to not work thanks .

check your hazard switch and make sure that it is not partially depressed. you might want to cycle it a few times and while you are at it make sure that the hazard lights are working. that or the multi-function switch is shot. im not sure about the wiring in 88 but usually the output from the brake switch goes through the multi-function switch before heading on down to the brake lights. question - do the front turn signals operate properly if not its definately the mf switch thats multi-function but will probably take on an alternate meaning sometime during the r/r process .

i had a similar problem on an 85 caravan. nearly drove me crazy trying to figure it out. there is a switch inside the steering column connected to the turn signal switch and for some reason chrysler decided to run the brake light circuit through this switch as well. you will have to pull the steering wheel to get at the switch. i replaced the switch and instantly had turn signals and brake lights. that was well over a year ago and they are still working fine. good luck! .

question - do the front turn signals operate properly response - yes the front signals work fine. i have switched the hazards on and off several times while working on the back lights. wasnt paying attention to see if the front hazards work - suspect that they do. i cant do any thing to get the back brake/hazard/turn signal to come. someone suggested replacing the bulbs but they both arent working and both filaments seem fine. thanks .

then it appears that the multi-function switch turn signal switch has failed and needs to be replaced. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving question - do the front turn signals operate properly response - yes the front signals work fine. i have switched the hazards on and off several times while working on the back lights. wasnt paying attention to see if the front hazards work - suspect that they do. i cant do any thing to get the back brake/hazard/turn signal to come. someone suggested replacing the bulbs but they both arent working and both filaments seem fine. thanks .

thanks for all of the help i recd some great tips. i do need clarification on the following according to my manual for my 2003 ram im suppose to use the b 3750 mile oil change interval service if one or more of the following apply day or night temps are below 32 f stop and go driving extensive idling drive in dusty conditions short trips less than 10 miles trailer towing or more than 50% of your driving is at sustained high speeds during hot weather. it says that most people will fall under this b service. this is for the so engine 250 hp not the 235 hp california emissions version. iron mike the b schedule calls for oil changes every 7500 miles unless you have a ca vehicle..... read the footnotes carefully! mike but just maybe there is a diesel owner that does not have a 2003 and has a nagging question about oil filter considerations and the heading of this thread cummins oil filter question not year specific might just peak his interest. makes sense... i just didnt want the o.p. taking the part numbers from that tsb and using them on his truck. .
