brake controller mounting

From : nathan w collier

Q: sould mount it on one side or the other any pictures of your controllers mounted i mounted mine on the knee bolster panel just to the right of the steering wheel. i put it on the right side so i didnt inadvertently bang it with my knee/leg upon entry. i also chose to put it on the knee panel so that if i somehow screwed it up the panel could be easily replaced it comes off with two screws on the bottom. others have removed the ash tray and mounted it in there. if you have the center cubby hole it could be mounted there as well. you can mount it temporarily with double-sided tape or velcro if youre using the pocket mount to make sure its where you want it/easily reachable/readable while driving. once youre happy with the placement drill the holes. .

how much do you want to spend i bought and installed a 15kw generac unit last year for the same reason north carolina and the unit was about $3200.00 and comes with an automatic transfer switch 12 breaker. i was also considering a portable but figured that if i was away when it was needed my wife wouldnt be able to hook it up. another problem is that if there is a massive power failure the gas stations cant pump and i dont like the idea of keeping 15 or 20 gallons of gas around. mine runs on propane since that is what we have here no ng in the area but it is capable of running on either one with minor adjustments. if i was going to run it on ng it would only be capable of producing 12kw and in that case i would have probably just bought the 12kw unit for around $2600 and saved myself some money. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving sorry for the ot post but figured this group if any might have the answers. am looking for a portable standby generator about 5kw. can anyone here recommend a specific **brand** or maybe suggest a specific brand to **avoid** living down in hurricane country texas gulf coast and so far in 18 years have never needed one. figure im pushing my luck and am thinking about one in the 5kw size range enuf to run fridge & deep freeze a few small wattage flourescent replacement lamps + tv and satellite rcvr prolly a fan or two. realize i cannot afford something the size that would pull our central ac. also what about fuels gasoline would ordinarily seem easiest to obtain and therefore most logical but what about natural gas not propane w/gasoline youd be constantly running out to purchase more else stick a georgia credit card in your vehicle tank. 5kw genset consumes between gal and 1 gal gasoline per hour depending on load. how much line pressure would it take for a ng powered genset im leaning toward gasoline but thought id ask. locally available brands & engines onan cummins troy-built briggs & stratton coleman honda honda honda thanks .

on sun 29 may 2005 084359 -0500 ramman@dodgecity.cc wrote rudyxhiebert@yahoo.com writes owners manuals and car dealer insist on 5000 miles or as in canada 8000 kms. or six months - whichever comes first. i had mine analyzed after using it for 13000 kms and seven months and the report showed that it was still ok. the issue as i understand it is that the oil becomes contaminated with microscopic particles and combustion residue. besides clogging the filter it becomes thicker and so therefore presents more of a burden for the oil pump to circulate. even at the manufacturers recommended 5000 miles it gets pretty gooey and by which time the filter has also become clogged. changing oil at 3000 mile intervals as recommended by all of the various oil change shops and most dealerships only serve to embellish their receivables. funny story an old family aquaintance at one time owned a miller beer distributorship in danville il altman distributing and had 4 beer trucks on which he paid to have the oil changed every 1000 miles! the small independent garage next door kleins garage that did all of altmans mech. service on the trucks used to keep some of the used oil in a big barrel called altman oil which the garage owner would subsequently put into his own cars. if you want to change something early change the filter and then add another quart or 1/2 quart of oil depending on what was lost in the filter change. many years ago i.e. back in the 40s 50s and even into the 60s it was quite common to only change the filter at every other oil change. isnt it interesting how flawed that line of thinking was even today with modern oil and synthetics the filter usually fails long before the recommended mileage interval to change your oil. why anyone would only change their oil and not replace the filter completely baffles me. im also unsure what the 6-months or whatever comes first is all about. the oil only breaks down and/or becomes contaminated from being used. it doesnt wear out or separate or lose its lubrication qualities from just sitting there. anyone know what the line of reasoning is behind this recommendation yes - good reasoning behind it. if you put on 3000 miles in 3 months chances are pretty good the engine has been warmed up several times and the moisture has been driven out of the oil. if you put 1000 miles on in six months the moisture has most likely not been driven out of the oil and moisture in oil causes sludge and corrosion. short trips are pure hell on engines and engine oil. .

do you have a single red led lit up even when nothing is plugged in my power button is crooked and im just wondering if its broken. i wont have anything to pull to test it with until the 6th when my trailer arrives. -- nathan w. collier http//7slotgrille.com http//utilityoffroad.com i too have a prodigy. check in the instructions because mine has to be level and in the direction of travel. it cant be sidways like the old ones. it has to be in the direction of travel but it doesnt have to be level. it can be mounted up to 70-some degrees from level. mine sits at about 45-50 right up against the bottom of the dash and it works just fine. .
