Q: have had my nitro slt for about 3 weeks now and i love it! first gotta say that i gave up a mitsubishi 3000 vr4 for this and that i really went to the dealership looking to buy a magnum awd. the magnum i looked at was about $46000 before taxes. i could hack this no prob but it just didnt seem like it was my cup of 10w50 cuz although it was a big block hemi it still didnt have all the bells and whistles i wanted - plus they the magnums are all sissy shifters arrrrrrgh. so i went for the nitro at $29000 which had more amenities a v-6 3.7 liter and more room which as i get older and seem to acquire more crap seems to make more sense. things i love about my nitro its really comfortable. the heated leather seats. the in-dash 6 cd/mp3/dvd player. my ol cars had them in the trunk. terrific gauge cluster/menu system which tells you almost every thing that one could think of and is really simple to use. pull out rear tail-gate tray that converts to table for tailgating camping etc.. two ac outlets. things that need improvement nothing so far except my gas mileage is about 14.7 mpg combined. let me know what you think. this i the first time out of about 15 cars i have owned that i have bought a first year production model - big no no right fair winds and following seas scpo .

kickbo@gmail.com wrote in i think that the first year for this will be fine - the caliber did really well as a first year i think integrating with the jeep platforms has helped with the quality on that front. scpo what did you think of the footwells i may not be the best person to ask about foot room - im only 59 a buck seventy soaking wet wearing an 8 1/2 but since you asked - im happy as a pig in slop! as far as im concerned theres tons of foot/leg room but then again this is my first sissy shifter since 1970 and without a clutch... well lets just say its very roomy for me. btw since you mentioned the caliber i sat in one at the dealership just for shits and giggles. now thats a tight fit - i really felt claustrophobic. might be a good starter car for a young family but i couldnt see making long trips in one. one last item as i mentioned i have had my nitro for almost a month and have yet to see another one on the road. was at the local home depot the other day - when i came out there were about 8 guys giving it the once over. one guy asked me if it was a hummer jeeez! fair winds and following seas scpo .

i believe the toe in is the only adjustment that can be made on that truck. no - caster can be adjusted with the adjuster cams on the lower link arms. camber is fixed but offset sleeves for the i believe - been a while upper ball joints are available if needed. my vote goes for a worn joint on the track bar as well.... very common wear point on these trucks. .

with these red light cameras some of the cities even shortened the yellow light duration to gain more violaters - people caight in the intersection when the light turned. in southern california one city has given a contract to a large corporation to operate and maintain the red light cameras. the corporation gets a cut of every ticket. does that sound like a would where you want to raise your children if you enter on yellow then you are ok in texas anyway. shortening the cycle would only get the ones who try to speed up and beat the yellow. .

on thu 07 dec 2006 193804 -0600 tom matigan matigan@rockymountaindigital.org wrote ive got a friend going bonkers with a steering problem on a 96 2500 diesel 4x4. the truck wanders at highway speeds - especially on two lane roads. if he hits a rut or a defect - the truck follows it even tho the steering wheel position has not changed. think steering behavior like bad ball joints. when he first got the truck it had been in storage. it would make a clunk sound when starting from rest and make another cluck sound when braking to stop. i think something in the front end is loose or worn out. so far the owner has spent several thousand dollars replacing parts trying to eliminate the problem. several mechanics cant find any problem. ive driven the problem 2500 and another 97 2500 - there is no comparison. the 97 2500 tracked a straight line with no problems. its apparent something is wrong with the 96 - but what should the front end be jacked up to test the components because of the weight of the diesel any ideas on how to diagnose this problem are the wheels towed in about an eighth of an inch beekeep .
