amsoil products are now carried by canadian tire stores up here in the great white north. it used to be that you had to buy it through i guess you could call it...independant franchise dealers anywho. ive been using it for over 20 years. it works for me. but..i cant put it in my 2004 vw jetta tdi it doesnt meet vw 505 01 specs.if i use it i void the warrenty. .

bob i have never used amsoil so i dont have a dog in that hunt. however i worked for 25 years for a company that had a lot of land clearing equipment and support vehicles. we pulled oil samples to determine oil change intervals. the 3000 mile oil change is completely unnecessary in this day and age. that started back in the days of non-detergent oils and no oil filterthat were very much inferior in quality than what is on the market today. we changed filters every 5 to 6 thousand miles and did the complete oil change from 20000 and up miles. never had any premature engine failures the whole time i worked there and much of this equipment was operated and driven by different people. if you keep your air filters changed when they need itto keep the silca out no sense in changing oil that often if you are using any of the premium brands. we used lubrication engineers oil of which we got direct from the maker and i now use in my dodge cummins pu. the oil sample info says it is a waste of money for changes that often. some of the newer cars bmw have sensors that let you know when the oil needs changing. i understand it is usually between 10 to 15 thousand miles. now engines that set a lot like old cars antiques and such are a different matter as acids and moisture will attack the bearings when setting for very long periods. i have never been a fan of the once a year oil change idea. after all how can the oil company know that you will drive in a manner that will allow their product to last for a whole year all oil goes bad from contaminants in the oil and how can the company assure us that their oil will stay cleaner in any given motor and usage pattern for a greater length of time than other manufacturers suggest it becomes very important to change that api oil regularly and often. bob .
