same thing happened to my 96 1500. at first i thought maybe the clockspring needed replacement. while enroute to the dealer with the intention of buying the $150 part i was involved in a collision. as i was waiting in the left turn lane an old man crossed the centerline and clipped my bumper and fender. the collision center replaced the bumper airbag sensors et al. turns out the clockspring was fine. i had a bad sensor. probably why the airbag didnt deploy. perhaps someone else in the group can advise on troubleshooting cost and replacement procedures for the front sensors. ralph get a once in a while air bag light. goes off and on. dealer says they cant do anything until it comes on and stays on. ! is it important or likely to be 2 is it accurate .

the clock spring is used to get the electrical firing signal to the airbag squib in the steering wheel. if it is open you will not fire the airbag in the steering wheel in a collision. on sun 30 nov 2003 080252 gmt ralph dmaft@comcast.net wrote same thing happened to my 96 1500. at first i thought maybe the clockspring needed replacement. while enroute to the dealer with the intention of buying the $150 part i was involved in a collision. as i was waiting in the left turn lane an old man crossed the centerline and clipped my bumper and fender. the collision center replaced the bumper airbag sensors et al. turns out the clockspring was fine. i had a bad sensor. probably why the airbag didnt deploy. perhaps someone else in the group can advise on troubleshooting cost and replacement procedures for the front sensors. ralph get a once in a while air bag light. goes off and on. dealer says they cant do anything until it comes on and stays on. ! is it important or likely to be 2 is it accurate .

i agree. dlrs are a negative selling point. as long as they can be turned off when neccessary i like them but i have 50 acres of apparently prime mudders land. kids knock down my fences at night and tear up my property with their 4x4s. i like to be able to sneak up on them without any lights take pictures and get license plate numbers in case the sherriff department has more pressing issues which is more often than not. that way i can at least take them to small claims court and provide evidence to the sherriff. when i was a kid and we tresspassed onto a particular ranchers land he would shoot us with a shot gun loaded with rock salt. stung like hell got the message across but didnt cause permanent damage. im afraid in todays lititgious society im the one that would be in trouble if i were to try that. chas daytime running lights are the best thing ever invented yonzie if i ever buy anything with daytime running lights the first thing im going to do is disable them some how. andy .

the proceedure in the dodge service manual to diagnose this is quite lengthy but it all comes down to sufficent voltage at various junction wiring harnesses fuses etc.. i suggest checking your battery first. same thing was happening with my miata before i replaced its battery. get a once in a while air bag light. goes off and on. dealer says they cant do anything until it comes on and stays on. ! is it important or likely to be 2 is it accurate .
