aggravating squeak

From : s walters

Q: lo all i have a 200 dodge dakota sport 6 cylinder automatic with about 32k miles on it. when i release the brake pedal every so often i hear a squeak very metallic sounding or rarer a heavier sqeak almost like a popping sound. its never as i brake but always seems to follow releasing the brake pedal. oddly i havent ever heard this happen when releasing the brake after the car is turned off when parking. i had the dealer 4-star allegedly examine the brakes and they didnt see any mechanical defects although i suspect all they did was take the tires off and examine the brake pads. have any of you all experienced this problem and if so what was the diagnosis i am really fond of my bright red truck and want to keep it in top shape. any suggestions thanks! -- seth. .

lubricate the pedal pivots under the dash and see if that helps. -- budd cochran lo all i have a 200 dodge dakota sport 6 cylinder automatic with about 32k miles on it. when i release the brake pedal every so often i hear a squeak very metallic sounding or rarer a heavier sqeak almost like a popping sound. its never as i brake but always seems to follow releasing the brake pedal. oddly i havent ever heard this happen when releasing the brake after the car is turned off when parking. i had the dealer 4-star allegedly examine the brakes and they didnt see any mechanical defects although i suspect all they did was take the tires off and examine the brake pads. have any of you all experienced this problem and if so what was the diagnosis i am really fond of my bright red truck and want to keep it in top shape. any suggestions thanks! -- seth. .

all thats a good suggestion but i forgot to mention that it sounds distinctly like its not in the cab of the truck. its intermittent enough that whenever i drive someone around and ask them to listen for it it usually doesnt happen. but p when im alone in the cab i hear it clearly. sometimes it really does sound threatening. any suggestions on the cause if lubricating the pedal pivots which i shall do this weekend perhaps doesnt help -- seth. lubricate the pedal pivots under the dash and see if that helps. -- seth. .

uh roy i was poking fun at the acronym of the type of vehicle. -- budd cochran cadillac is now advertising their overly equipped sport utility vehicle as a performance utility vehicle. do they really think anyone wants to ride in a pee-yeew v call it what you will but it moves along real well. i think it is pretty much the same as the z71 tahoe that i picked up. the z71boils down to a fi 327 with a 373 rear. now if they stuck a northstar in the thing things could get real interesting. roy budd cochran .
