From : zxcv
Q: just yesterday i pulled out of the gas station and i hear the sound similar to a flat tire wump wump wump wump wump i turn down radio and left off gas and i can then hear clearly now that the sound is more grating/grinding then i first realized grrrump grrrump grrrump grrrump i drove straight home about 5 miles the sound sped-up/slowed down insync with vehicle speed. i parked and finally jacked it up today. if i grab the top and bottom of the front-right wheel the wheel/rotor both rock together. the top of the wheel has a total play of about 1. i know this cant be good. am i screwed .

i know this cant be good. am i screwed no but youre going to need a new set of bearings in that wheel. fortunately you have a 2wd so changing the bearings is pretty simple and theyre fairly cheap as well. if youre going to change them yourself post back if you need specifics. if youre going to have someone do it at least tighten up the spindle nut a bit before driving it to be serviced. jack up the wheel remove the wheel remove the dust cap remove the cotter pin and tighten the spindle nut by hand use a socket and extension but no driver. then if necessary tighten it until you can get the cotter pin back in. this will keep it tight enough so it doesnt bust on you while driving it to a shop. .
