accident report

Q: see http//inlinediesel.com/forum/topic.asptopicid=121 for pictures. my wife had just left a stop sign and was driving approximately 30mph in a 35mph zone on a city street. a truck pulling out of a bank parking lot somehow didnt see my wife in her quad cab long bed 1 ton truck and he t-boned her. my wife and the kids are all fine my son who was sitting at the door that got directly whacked never even stopped playing his video game. glad to hear the family is okay. as you can see the door is crushed the bed is crushed and the pillar that goes between the back of the door and the bed is also crushed. to say im angry would be an understatement. her truck that stickered for nearly $45000 has just been devalued. when it comes time to trade or sell carfax will show its been wrecked and you know what that does to the value of a vehicle. what i really dont understand is that the highway patrolman didnt write the driver of the other truck a ticket for anything. it was clearly his fault he claimed the sun was in his eyes although my wife had headlights on due to dusk setting in! he impacted her truck yet he didnt get a ticket the reason this concerns me is that im afraid this will hurt our ability to collect from his insurance company or does this really even matter i called the highway patrol who told me that they dont determine the fault of an accident....told me that was a misconception about their role. is there something different about montana law or is it that way everywhere cop could have cited for a number of things but chose not to for some reason. point of impact usually tells the story. it does in your case. your truck was clearly more than half way through the intersection no damage to front fender or door. im also wondering what my realistic rights are here. the pillar between the door and the bed cannot be replaced and i dont want to continue making a $700 payment on a truck thats been bondod. they can put in a new panel and pillar i believe. i have an appointment to see an attorney but am wondering now what i can expect. i know accidents happen but were it not for bhis/b negligence our truck wouldnt be smashed now. each state has differnt regs. the attorney can shed more light on it. roy nathan w. collier http//inlinediesel.com http//utilityoffroad.com http//7slotgrille.com http//bighornrefrigeration.com .

i have an old dodge truck that gets taken out of storeage once a year for about 15 miles of driving. i add about a gallon of gas every year . i havent changed oil in years. i live in a dry climate so maybe that helps. bob g. wrote i own & drive 5 corvettes and a chevelle for 7-8 months of the yrar and store them for the other 4-5 months.... 1. how often should i start-it up i do not start them... period ! 2. when i start-up should i run it n the highway for a some time if you start it up i definately wourd drive it about 15 to 20 miles 3. is there anything i need to do to the fuel like put a stabilizer in it i gave up using stabilizser etc long ago...now store the cars with 1/4 tank of gas there is another group of guys who insist on storeing with full gas tanks. however so i really do not have an answer... 4. what about the engine oildo need to change it before we embark on our annual summer trip i change the oil when i store the vehicles...not the filter .and change it again and the filter when i pull them out in the spring... maybe i put 10 miles on each car before i change the oil..most of the time i do not put any mles on them 5. should i disconnet the batteties honestly i used to have to replace 2 or 4 batteries every year until i started hooking up a float charger battery tender to each car...been at least 5 years since i had a battery die on me ... thanks in advance for your input. no problem...but you are storing your truck for twice as long as i store my toys.. really should not be a problem however... i would think about taking the weight ff the suspension with jack stands if i were storing for 9 months... never needed to to that just for my short time winter storage... oh i read this group because my daily driver is a dodge truck... bob g .

hello we recently bought brand new dodge ram 05. we used it tow our travel trailer during the summer and now it will be parked for the next 8 or 9 months. we live near the sea so the air is constantly humid and their is a significant amount of airborne salt mist. the truck is parked in a garage but the garage to big windows that have nothing but metal bars on the so that the outside air circulates freely through the garage. so my question is what should i do to ensure that our dodge ram ctd remains in top notch condition and is not harmed by the 8 to 9 months of being parked in a humid and saline environment 1. how often should i start-it up 2. when i start-up should i run it n the highway for a some time 3. is there anything i need to do to the fuel like put a stabilizer in it 4. what about the engine oildo need to change it before we embark on our annual summer trip 5. should i disconnet the batteties thanks in advance for your input. sell it and rent a truck when you need to move your trailer or pay somebody to tow it. oh really i just traded in my 1979 4wd dodge. it only began falling apart this past year. its never been garaged. that is my point. the truck in question a fairly expensive truck will be sitting in a shelter by the sea shore for 8-9 months. that is probably the worst storage situation. even following the factory storage procedure and putting it in a envelope will help some but... as far as renting....where hot shot or equipment rental .

budd... i gotta ask you here... what about someone whos talking on a cellphone and accidentally hits and kills someone how many states have laws against cell phone usage while driving ga for one. the only way to use a cell in a moving vehicle for the driver is to use a hands free device i dont see much improvment here but thats their rule or speaker phone. 1st degree murder there too why not if you know its against the law to talk on the cell while driving i and my brother both pull over to answer the cellphone because we neither want to take the risk. i mean - we all know the dangers of using a cellphone while driving. most states now prohibit it and can fine a driver caught doing so. there are many studies that claim using a cellphone causes just as much impairment to driving ability as a .08% bac. do we execute these people do we just the other day while riding with my brother a cell user pulled out in front of us blowing a stop sign yelling at someone on the phone. now look how much this topic has been in the media and tell me they had no chance to have ever heard the warnings. . . . how about the people who drive while exhausted have you ever looked at the laws directed at semi-truck drivers caught driving while exhausted i had a cdl for a while and co was strict . . .on paper. however the law was often un-enforcible. ever been driving and fighting to stay awake yep and i even fell asleep at the wheel but i didnt hit anyone and it was also before my change in attitude about some vehicular laws. we all know about the dangers of driving and falling asleep... heck in my state its even illegal to do so dont ask me how this is enforced - its a relatively new experiment in socialization. me neither but how many un-enforcible laws are there now so - work a double shift doze off at the wheel cause an accident somebody dies... get thrown in the gas chamber lol all you guys keep switching the conditions . . . .all i was talking about was deliberately getting drunk and then driving. cant anyone stay on the subject besides me how are the above scenarios different than driving with an elevated bac a lot but no one sees it but me. im done discussing it. many of you alreadty consider me to be over the edge so its nothing new. budd .

are you sure that when you put everything back together you didnt forget to put the coil wire back on to start with i have worked on cars for 40plus years. with that being said i installed a water pump on my 1996 dodge ram 4 wheel withair. 5.9 cu. in. after i installed water pump got everything together the truck turned over but refuses to start. i might add i removed the fan and installed electric fans but they are wired directly to battery so should have no bearing on the no start problem.it has myself and my friends baffled. .

first degree requires intent and most drunk drivers dont get in their vehicles with the intent to kill someone however im in agreement with you that the punishment should be severe. lol tom there are thousands of ads everyday giving the dangers of operating a vehicle under the influence . . now just how many people over 12 do you think have never seen or heard about those dangers and there are those same adds talking about the dangers of smoking and they are also ignored. people only see what they want to see. the point tom is that if you ignore break/ think it applies only to other people the law you are a criminal. there are no laws concerning smoking and driving. i agree 100% but the punishment has to fit the crime. being an idiot and getting someone killed is not the same thing as going out with the intent to kill for whatever reason. if you know you plan to get drunk it is not being an idiot its intended with forethought. letting yourself get drunk when you let your friends buy youjust one more you show a lack of responsibility because you probably let it happen before. not everybody who gets drunk has plans to do so and how can you make the determination that they did especially if they are close to the legal limit. as for the smoking i was referring to people only seeing what they want to see not that there was a law against it. as do you. youre only seeing what you want to see in this thread. ditto. since the knowledge is well brodcast ignorance is no excuse. if the dui / dwi knows hes going out to get drunk then he knows he could kill someone by driving in that condition. if you know its a crime and you know you could kill and decide to get wiped out anyway then as far as im concerned its a concious decision and you have decided the value of the life of another person or persons is of no importance. and that says you though about it and decided to do it. the sad thing is that it is never this black and white. actually it is. if you drive drunk you break the law. period. if you kill knowing youre doing it you break the law. if you refuse to pay your taxes you break the law. again im in full agreement but we are talking about the specifics of murder 1 not just breaking the law. isnt murder 1 breaking the law so is running a red light so should both people face the same punishment the only reason for there being any gray areas is liberal defense lawyers but then they created the civil double jeopardy lawsuit didnt they more complete crap. it would be great if the world were really so black and white but that simply isnt the case with reality. as for double jeapardy that is the way it should be. now this makes you sound either ignorant or bitter budd. name calling tom im neither. then stop blaming the liberals for all of the worlds problems. the conservatives have caused their fair share of them as well although the way you make it sound they are perfect and thinking that either side is without fault is complete ignorance. life itself is a gray area and if you just dole out punnisshment without understanding or compassion you might as well be saddam because that is exactly what he did. comparing me to saddam now are we too bad you arent where i could deck you for that insult. you could try but would probably get hurt. i am not suggesting that you are like that piece of shit but that is exactly what he did and what you seem to be suggesting that we all do. there are some that think that they can drive as well or better drunk others that accidentally have 1 too many and dont really feel drunk and neither of these types know that they could kill somebody because as far as they are concerned they can drive just fine and then it is not a conscious choice that they devaluated human life. tom i did not say accidentally i said knowing they would be getting drunk . . .big difference. what i wrote was a statement of a deliberate thought out act. are trying out the part of a liberal defense lawyer now keep your spins out. there is no spin here budd. yes you are ignoring what i say and substituting your words. really where how can you prove that the person knew that they would get drunk. i used to drink and i knew before i took each first drink i was going to drink either just before or many hours before. btdt tom. but you were a heavy drinker at the time according to you and a serious drinker does know what they are going to do but an occasional social drinker does not go out with the intention of getting ripped but sometimes it happens. alcohol affects different people differently just like any other drug and while some may know that they had too much at .081% blood alcohol another may not feel it at all and have no idea yet by your judgment they both go to jail for life or are executed for the

true... hell a few months ago a man was released from prison after serving 7 years for a rape he didnt commit cleared by dna evidence and it was found that the prosecutor had such evidence that could have cleared him and suppressed it. it looks like your prosecutor led the jury away from the actual conclusion here so are you also saying in your typecast bs that conservatives are also liars. well tom given your view of politics my example and your breakdown of it parallel your reality so closely its frightening. i never said that the prosecuter led the jury towards the truth hes a lawyer after all i simply said he led them towards one possibility. this does not necessarily mean he lied but it sure opens the door doesnt it keep mind lawyers switch sides all the time. iow the liberal is open minded which indicates intelligence while the a conservative is closed minded which tends to be an idiot. at least that is what you said above. no tom thats what you desperately want to believe. simply being open minded doesnt indicate intelligence as it can also indicate indecisiveness or stupidity. but i didnt say the liberal was open minded i said he sought to find a range of possibility which could be seen as being deceptive and misleading a liar. simply looking for one possibility doesnt indicate idiocy as it can indicate logical evaluation of facts and a drive for the truth. but depends on which side you are on. sadly in your world there are only two sides your side where everyone agrees with your every word and the other side where anyone else is. interestingly this is a closed minded approach meaning in your definitions you are what you hate so much a conservative. -- max there are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty soap ballot jury and ammo. please use in that order. -ed howdershelt author lol sorry to burst your bubble max but quite a few defense lawyers are conservatives like just about all of the high priced ones. the only difference between a liberal defense lawyer and a conservative one is their motivation. sorry to burst your bubble tom but a defense lawyer gets paid to lead the jury away from solid conclusions. thus he is a liberal. a prosecutor is paid to uphold the letter of the law thus a conservative. hahahahaha you are kidding right!!! if this was a purly moral world full of completely honest people i might agree but if you believe that to be true... hell a few months ago a man was released from prison after serving 7 years for a rape he didnt commit cleared by dna evidence and it was found that the prosecutor had such evidence that could have cleared him and suppressed it. it looks like your prosecutor led the jury away from the actual conclusion here so are you also saying in your typecast bs that conservatives are also liars. what they do outside the courtroom/practice may be something entirely different thus why lawyers are so universally hated as being hypocrits or two faced. like i said it is all based on motivation both in and out of the court. some are motivated by the idea of giving someone another chance even if they are nothing more than a lowlife scumbag liberal while others do it for the big money and could care less about the actual guilt conservative. but the fact remains... a defense attorney looks to open the range of possibility a prosecutor seeks to nail one possibility almost a perfect definition of liberal and conservative. iow the liberal is open minded which indicates intelligence while the a conservative is closed minded which tends to be an idiot. at least that is what you said above. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

thank you so much for your time. i remember them mentioning something the first time when they fixed it mentioning the word pressure so i am going to hand the dealer mechanics a list of things to look over. may sound silly but it took 5 five trips to the dealer mechanic in 2 months before they fixed it. they kept just sending me home with a note could not duplicate problem. so both of these suggestions are going on the list. and i know they are going to try and charge me and claim its out of warranty. so thats why i wanted to know if you guys felt it was to still be covered under my 7/70. seeing that we feel it should i can go in there with both guns blazing when they hand me a big fat bill. thanks again! bev .

my 2003 ram diesel automatic has had this problem before and under warranty they fixed it dont know what they did/didnt document it. now were way out of warranty and it has started again. ill be driving down the freeway whether at 65 or 85mph and ill feel the truck suck back power for a split second then the whole thing lunches jarringly slows down with crazy revs going on it red lines the tach and im in 2nd gear! along with this problem is the fact that i feel the truck has lost a bit of oomph. i feel it sucking back when i step on the accelerator; it feels like a pressure build up and you can hear the engine revving higher but it doesnt go a lot faster like it used to. and it feels like its going to slam into 2nd gear. have also lost a bit of towing power too. wtf i initially thought it was the transmission but it really isnt. tranny works fine. could it be the pcm or the map would any of this be covered under the powertrain portion of the warranty which is more extensive/longer than the standard portion anyone have this problem or is it just my doomed truck ive had extensive problems of every sort with my truck. bev .

first degree requires intent and most drunk drivers dont get in their vehicles with the intent to kill someone however im in agreement with you that the punishment should be severe. lol tom there are thousands of ads everyday giving the dangers of operating a vehicle under the influence . . now just how many people over 12 do you think have never seen or heard about those dangers and there are those same adds talking about the dangers of smoking and they are also ignored. people only see what they want to see. the point tom is that if you ignore break/ think it applies only to other people the law you are a criminal. there are no laws concerning smoking and driving. since the knowledge is well brodcast ignorance is no excuse. if the dui / dwi knows hes going out to get drunk then he knows he could kill someone by driving in that condition. if you know its a crime and you know you could kill and decide to get wiped out anyway then as far as im concerned its a concious decision and you have decided the value of the life of another person or persons is of no importance. and that says you though about it and decided to do it. the sad thing is that it is never this black and white. actually it is. if you drive drunk you break the law. period. if you kill knowing youre doing it you break the law. if you refuse to pay your taxes you break the law. the only reason for there being any gray areas is liberal defense lawyers but then they created the civil double jeopardy lawsuit didnt they there are some that think that they can drive as well or better drunk others that accidentally have 1 too many and dont really feel drunk and neither of these types know that they could kill somebody because as far as they are concerned they can drive just fine and then it is not a conscious choice that they devaluated human life. tom i did not say accidentally i said knowing they would be getting drunk . . .big difference. what i wrote was a statement of a deliberate thought out act. are trying out the part of a liberal defense lawyer now keep your spins out. they were wrong and stupid but were not going out with the intent to kill and therefor cannot be accused of murder 1. actually anyone that drinks to the point of 0.08 bac or more is impaired the military navy told my son that if he had more than 3 beers in a week he was to seek counseling. does that give you an idea of how serious it is tom do you drink .

tbone wrote there is nothing baseless about it. so far the only thing that you based success on has been money and that is just greed simple as that. nope. i stated clearly that success is defined by each individual. its you who has defined greed as anyone who has more money than some arbritary limit you set. once they pass a certian point they are greedy and should be at a higher tax rate lol there ya go. you define greed based on someone making more than some amount you perceive to be too much. who the hell are you to decide how much a person can make and then decide they are greedy if they make more than that lol now you are against particular cases. how exactly am i or anyone else supposed to prove anything if you refuse to look at individual cases. averages tbone. single cases do not prove your point that most businesses do not pay much taxes because of loopholes and writeoffs. walmart is a bad example anyways. they do not get special tax laws unavailable to anyone else. how would i do that when you close your eyes real tight and refuse to look at individual cases but in this case i will use you as my example. you own a small business and intend to collect from it your full salary according to you until the day you die and justify it by claiming that you made an investment but that investment paid you back years ago and now it is just an excuse to take money without actually working for it. that is just plain absurd tbone. you really believe that people shouldnt be able to build a successfull business and retire on it later in life if they do then they are greedy geez tbone this is exactly why they built the business. paid back the investment so what you invest money and as soon as you collect the principal amount back youre done thats a bad investment. everyone thats retired shouldnt have any retirement income from past investments huh too funny. i would also say that you probably make 5 to 10 times or more that of your employees but i can guarantee that you dont work 5 to 10 times harder than they do. i put up 100s of times more money of my own at my risk to build the company and considerably more hours worked. and for you it is just the money which is the definition of greed. thanks miles. to you perhaps. is giving 1000s to charity and donating time to them greed do a study on who gives the most and who donates the most of their own time to charity and volunteer organizations helping others. youd be suprised. because both are the problem and it is irresponsible to cut taxes when you know you are going to increase spending. it is irresponsible to raise taxes when the economy cant support it. even when it can its far better to control spending rather than just digging deeper into peoples own pockets to support over spending. .

could be just one tank of bad fuel. i have an 04 that did the same thing at 9800 miles. youre overdue. you dont get a lot of slack when you have only 6 psi to start with. steve steve fuel filter was changed in may 15000 miles ago. how often does it need changing also could be the notorious lift pump. charles. steve lusardi wrote charles change your fuel filter immediately. it is easy to do. you will need a 1/2 drive 12 extention universal joint and a 1 1/8 socket to remove the cap. the filter simply lifts out. the new filter will come with a new o ring for the cap. when the new filter is installed you will see 6.5 psi at idle and under max throttle it will drop to 4 but not lower. steve i picked up my truck today 2001 2500 td 24 valve after having egt and fuel pressure gauges installed. at idle fuel pressure is like 5-7 psi it hunts. while driving it is around 3 max going up a hill truck is not really trying it can drop to 1 or 2 psi. what should the pressure be at idle when driving when working hard does this mean i need to replace the lift pump before it takes out the main fuel pump my friends say carquest sells the same pump as you get from cummins for a lot less. around $100 i think. main pump they say is a $2000 job. is it hard to do or get at if so i have a mechanic that can do it. thanks charles .

tbone wrote it ends when the country has the money it needs to do what it has to do. i see government comes first people come second. government always needs more money.....no problem for your ilk though just tax the rich some more. you will never define when enough is enough for taxing the rich. there will always be something/someone with less that needs it so tax them so more is your plan. no the country comes first the individuals second. i just did define it although you dont seem to be intelligent enough to understand it. if they dont want to be taxed so high then they should either stop being so damn greedy or privatly fund some of the things that need to be done. or they can reduce costs by outsourcing or shutting down completely or moving everything overseas. your plan is to crush business because you feel business is evil and greedy. with your plan the incentive to grow a business is diminshed because doing so brings on your wrath in the form of exhorbant tax rates. all you will do is drive business elsewhere at the cost of jobs. why do you keep trying to change the subject from individuals to businesses can you not support your arguments please explain if the median income is around $25000 or so how someone can actually work hard enough to make $1000000 never mind the 10 million and up that some are stealing. so people should not be able to make 1000000 in this country as long as others are making 25000 these people that make 1000000 should be punished by having much of it taken from them welcome to tbones communist redistribution of wealth plan. more spin and still unable to answer a simple question but ill ask again. how exactly does someone work hard enough to make 40 times or more the a person making the median income and please be specific. more right wing hogwash. if the people running these companies need 10+ million plus bonuses to be motivated they should simply be replaced. you are talking about an entire tax system based on a select few high paid ceos that you read about in the . geez tbone wake up. you cant base the entire plan on exceptions as you noted. you are the one that keeps twisting it to this not me. stay with the subject and talk about the individuals. and if they all do that who would be able to buy what they sell you are very arrogant tbone. this is a global market. the companies that you speak of sell globally and often the us is not their main market. they have offices and subsideraries all over the world. if its too costly to do business in the usa then they quit and move when it become obvious they can turn a higher profit by doing so. how is having people pay their fair share for what this country and society allowed them to take a punishment answer - it isnt. but you cant define fair share. all you state is that if the government needs more money and the rich are still rich then raise their taxes more. its a cycle without end. only because you want to spin it to make it appear so. no real companies were in trouble due to the tax levels during clintons time and nobody went broke or became less rich and yet we were bringing in enough to reduce the defecit so you endless circle argument is pure bullshit. skyrocketed my ass. care to back that up. tbone the federal tax revenues are public record. go check ill wait. tax revenues skyrocket after the tax cuts. they are higher now than they ever have been. people like you seem to not understand how the gov. gets its money. for many people they cant comprehend how tax revenues can go up if the tax rate is cut. look it up tbone. revenues have climbed dramatically after the cuts. you mean after the record job loss as well. there was no record increase in employment after these tax cuts actually there was a record loss of jobs. funny thing is that the beginning of most of these gains starts at the bottom after both the tax cut and the job loss where all it can do is go up. the only other thing that could raise the revenues is when the rich scumbags that didnt pay their fair share are now hiding less of their money because it costs them less now. perhaps if they would pay their fair share to begin with there would be no need for increases. btw why are we now at all time highs with the defecit and the rich also take more than the lions share of the money so they should. and they give the lions share in the form of jobs. but you feel since they are rich they have too much so punish them until they quit and leave. yea jobs tha they dont even pay a living wage for in many cases and in others less than 1/100 of what they are making but then again you keep twisting it into companies and away from the individuals where your arguments are invalid and pointless. unless these businesses ony have a margine of 1 or 2 percent a small tax increase will have no real e

if you are using the prestone flush system then yes the hose with the coupling is the one to use. just remove the coupling and insert the t fitting there. i would also suggest cracking the lower radiator hose loose for draining the radiator it is much faster than using the petcock. remember to use pure antifreeze and not that 50/50 crap when you refill the radiator after the flush and put it into the radiator unmixed. it will mix with the water that is still in the engine to give you the proper ratio. if you want to do it with the distilled water method as some in here like to do then after the flush you will need to remove the lower radiator hose as well as the block drains small hex fittings on the lower block on the sides of the engine to remove as much water as possible before filling it with either that pre-mixed stuff or an equal amount of distilled water and antifreeze. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving i want to change my engine coolant and found this article http//www.diynetwork.com/diy/enmaintenance/article/02021diy13808227091900.html it talks about installing the t-fitting in the heater-inlet hose that runs from the firewall to the top of the engine. i have one heater hose which runs on the driver side to the firewall and one that runs on the passenger side. i suspect the one on the passenger side to be the inlet hose that i need to install the t-fitting in. am i right with that that one on the passenger side actually already has a coupling in it so it should be very easy to install the fitting. but again is that one the right hose any other tips for changing the engine coolant are appreciated as well. thanks in advance. axel .

tbone wrote really it looks like most of them are acting like police and getting killed by road side bombs. do a little research for once instead of just reading the biased media body count headline stories. pkb. lol you are kidding right!!!!! wtf do you expect him to say that his commander and chief is an idiot or even that he cannot defeat some terrorists with the rules placed upon him by our society oh geez. thats the typical mentality for ya. in your warped mind troops dont even support themselves and the job they are there to do. they just go along with bush out of fear of reprisal somehow huh they go along with bush because he is their commander and chief and they do it out of honor and duty. i am sure that there are some that truly want to be their but there are also a large number that dont. correction rules placed upon him by the leftist liberals of our society. lol no just the society. iow you can disagree with the reasons but you must still support it. what a complete load of shit. no tbone you do not have to support anything. you just know it is politically incorrect to not support the troops so you refuse to say it. not true. i do support our troops but this war occupation is a load of crap. instead you spin your definition of support...a definition that is not wanted by our troops on the ground. so it is not support at all. only in your little right wing mind. back to your typical extreme if you are not with me you are against me horse crap again. all that shows is the ignorance and stupidity of your argument. see above tbone. you do not have to say you support the troops. but you do just that in your own spun world because it is politically correct to do so. you cant admit the truth about your lack of support. it is also not politically correct to call the president an idiot but i do that now dont i. you really need to seperate the troops from the bogus action they are now stuck in. lol yea right. did you forget who you are talking to here i say it as i see it. no you dont. you refuse to admit you do not support our troops. the only support they need is support that allows them to succeed and win. you feel they cant win. they do not need that kind of support or lack of. just because you cant seperate the troops from the action does not make me not support them regardless of your opinion. and what job is that with the complete lack of any plan at all all they seem to be are moving targets for the terrorist insurgents to play with. the insurgency started out in all 18 provinces of iraq. as of last june it was reduced to 4. since sept. all fighting has been in only 3 provinces. that is progress even though you refuse to acknowledge it because of your own political hatred and bias. you do not support our troops to finish the job. if this were truly the case the number of troops being wounded and killed should be significantly reduced and this is simply not the case. yea the massive tax hikes against the rich that were hurting nobody including them and finally balancing the budget massive tak hikes are a dumb idea in a down economy. no way would the economy have grown if the tax hikes were not rolled back. complete bullshit. those cuts actually made it worse for many people not better. so tell me tbone and i have asked you before but you refuse to answer. what is a fair amount for the tax rate to be for the rich. what salary do you define rich to be that your tax rate would apply we have gone over this many times. the tax rate should be what it needs to be to fund the necessary programs to make the country run and be safe. as for the definition of rich who knows i would probably set an increase at 1000000 per year and another at 10000000 with the minimum income to be taxed at around 20000 singe and 30000 married. iow three tax brackets. i would also limit the tax deductions to medical and children only and convert capital gains to standard income. that is because he did. he gave a shit load of money to the people that dont need it at all at the cost of those that dont have it to give. he did no such thing. he allowed them to keep more of their own money. that is not a gift. he didnt give money that belong to those that didnt have it. dang warped backasswards liberal mentality. too funny. more right wing spin. it is all their money when you come to think of it so why is anyone taxed at all if the wealthy were not so greedy there would be no need for higher tax brackets but with 2% of the population controlling 98 % of the money it is what it is. because when the cut serves no purpose other than to make the already rich even richer at the cost of those that need help all it can be is a gift. it is their money. how did they get it miles iow where did it come from taking less of it is a bad

i really do need instructions on how to replace the serpentine belt on this. i would appreciate any help on this matter. find the tensioner pulley on the passenger side of the engine. it will be the pulley farthest to the left when lookint at the engine from the front. put a 15mm socket with a long-handled ratchet on the bolt in the center of the pulley and turn the bolt clockwise. the tensioner assembly will rotate and the belt will loosen. slip the belt off of the alternator and adjacent idler pulley creating enough slack so that you can gently let the tensioner back. remove the belt. to put the new belt on start by looping it around the crank pulley the one on the bottom and follow the belt routing diagram on the radiator core support should be a little sticker with the belt routing diagram. when you have the belt almost on rotate the tensioner again so that you can slip the belt over the tensioner pulley then ease the tensioner back so it stretches the belt tight. make sure that the belt is properly seated in all the grooved pulleys not hanging off of one edge or the other. thats all there is to it... start the engine and make sure it doesnt make any funny noises and youre all done. .

charles change your fuel filter immediately. it is easy to do. you will need a 1/2 drive 12 extention universal joint and a 1 1/8 socket to remove the cap. the filter simply lifts out. the new filter will come with a new o ring for the cap. when the new filter is installed you will see 6.5 psi at idle and under max throttle it will drop to 4 but not lower. steve i picked up my truck today 2001 2500 td 24 valve after having egt and fuel pressure gauges installed. at idle fuel pressure is like 5-7 psi it hunts. while driving it is around 3 max going up a hill truck is not really trying it can drop to 1 or 2 psi. what should the pressure be at idle when driving when working hard does this mean i need to replace the lift pump before it takes out the main fuel pump my friends say carquest sells the same pump as you get from cummins for a lot less. around $100 i think. main pump they say is a $2000 job. is it hard to do or get at if so i have a mechanic that can do it. thanks charles .

tom lawrence wrote as have i. but - have you ever pulled into oncoming traffic from a parking lot at 30+ mph no i havent and common sense tells you that wouldnt be a easy thing to do coming out of a parking lot making a 90 degree turn pulling a horse trailer..... and if he hit her broadside he never even got into the turn.......think about it. thats the part that categorizes the other driver as a moron. if it were true.... but my experience is people with horses assuming he had any aboard are very cautious in how they turn and brake and even when there are no animals aboard they seem to drive in the same manner with their trailer. there is to much missing from this story to make a judgment like this. add in the part about the fully loaded horse trailer and its even more puzzling why a reckless let alone careless driving citation wasnt issued. maybe because it was not the situation as described and no im not calling nate a liar but he could have his information all turned around. you know the police officer could have been flat wrong. just how long do you think skid marks would be with the 20000 pound total weight at 35 mph you mentioned id say a good 50-60 feet and to me that would mean he skidded all the way across the highway into the parking lot across the street before making contact unless of course the trailer had brakes locked up and over lapped the truck marks. come on tom use some logical thinking here. putting myself in that situation i cant imagine a scenario where i dont pull to the end of the driveway and either come to a stop or at least a creep look and then pull out. even if i dont see the oncoming truck no way am i pulling out onto the road fast enough to impact the side of the truck that much. me either which leads me to think he probable never braked at all until just before impact which would result is the damage that resulted because of the force from the weight of his vehicle and load. it still places the fault with the driver of the other vehicle but a moron it does not make without better information. most states believe it or not usually have a speed limit of 10 mph in parking lots and certain residential zones where there are children at least the ones ive lived in so why wasnt he issued a citation for speeding......maybe because he wasnt going that fast jerry .

nate my father was a body and fender repair man all his life. if the repair is done correctly it will be just as strong if not stronger than the original. as a welder myself i understand what youre referencing. what concerns me more than the repair is the damage and the expected depreciation that will surely follow. if the repair is done properly i would buy a previously wrecked vehicle if it was the truck i was looking for. but would you buy it if it were parked beside an identical truck that hadnt been wrecked for the same price when i shop for trucks and i buy a lot of trucks the first thing i look at is the carfax. if any damage at all is listed im done looking at that truck. regardless of condition or price i dont buy vehicles that have been wrecked. i have little faith in repairs. i hate bondo panels dont line up or match the paint fades at different rates creaks/moans etc. -- nathan w. collier http//utilityoffroad.com http//inlinediesel.com http//7slotgrille.com http//bighornrefrigeration.com .

tom pointed that out in his first post yes i did - because the way it was worded the accident occurred where the driveway meets the street and its determined that he was running an estimated 35mph sounded like it was determined to be a 35mph impact. but decided to change his tune when it was time for lets fuck with tbone again. no - i changed my tune if you want to call it that when nate clarified that the hp officer stated on a phone call - meaning he had time to do some analysis the initial speed was estimated at 30-35mph based on the load of the truck and the length of the skid marks. my problem with t-bone was his statements to the effect of you cant place blame on the other driver because you werent there so you dont know what happened. unless nates lying about the details of the accident location highly unlikely or lying about the statements the highway patrol made to him again pretty unlikely its hard to imagine a scenario where the other driver isnt at fault. with my truck i have a dead spot on the passenger side from the side mirror and several times i have almost pulled out in front of someone when the timing was just right. as have i. but - have you ever pulled into oncoming traffic from a parking lot at 30+ mph thats the part that categorizes the other driver as a moron. add in the part about the fully loaded horse trailer and its even more puzzling why a reckless let alone careless driving citation wasnt issued. putting myself in that situation i cant imagine a scenario where i dont pull to the end of the driveway and either come to a stop or at least a creep look and then pull out. even if i dont see the oncoming truck no way am i pulling out onto the road fast enough to impact the side of the truck that much. nate - can you take some pics of the area that this happened if you havent already .

i picked up my truck today 2001 2500 td 24 valve after having egt and fuel pressure gauges installed. at idle fuel pressure is like 5-7 psi it hunts. while driving it is around 3 max going up a hill truck is not really trying it can drop to 1 or 2 psi. that is too low. what should the pressure be at idle when driving when working hard does this mean i need to replace the lift pump before it takes out the main fuel pump yes it will cause your inj pump to fail. about $2500 for that puppy. my friends say carquest sells the same pump as you get from cummins for a lot less. around $100 i think. main pump they say is a $2000 job. is it hard to do or get at if so i have a mechanic that can do it. it should take 1/2 hour the first time. very easy to do. roy .

change the governor pressure solenoid and transducer use only mopar parts change the fluid every 12k greetings i posted a note on this before and got some good suggestions. i have some more information now an would like some more opinions. here is the background truck has about 82000 on it. use it mostly empty but occasionally drag about a 10k boat. florida is mostly flat and the truck has not had a problem towing the boat in overdrive at about any speed i want although when i do tow i normally keep it under 65 and usually at 55-60. at 70mph the truck turns about 1850 rpm or so in overdrive. a few months ago i noticed that the truck would seem to get stuck in first gear. eventually it would shift to second if i revved it high enough and then seemed to act normally through the other gears. this symptom would come and go. then about a month ago it would seem to get stuck in first gear more often. now it seems to start out in second gear and then shift through the other gears just fine and very rarely does it get stuck in first. i flushed the tranny and changed the fluids. the pan did have some metal particles in it and the oil was kind of dark not black but kind of a reddish brown. it did not smell burnt and my tranny temp gauge rarely moves. however occasionally and only lately does the tranny temp gauge get into the middle of the range if i am towing in stop and go traffic. i have been given advice to either 1 change the tranny 2 have it rebuilt 3 change the solenoids or governor components the check engine light has never come on but the guy that flushed the tranny did say there was a code that appeared but would not tell me what it was. i never did trust tranny shops as they always seem to give vague answers or refuse to discuss price. they seem to treat issues as some sort of black art or something. i do not have a code reader but should probably invest in one. i am fairly handy and more then capable of swapping a tranny out or changing some simple components but i would not tackle a tranny rebuild myself. the up side of all this is that when the tranny was working fine i was averaging about 16 mpg. now that it starts off in second i am getting close to 19 and the rest of the truck is fine. so although i need to get this fixed there is no real sense of urgency. anyway any advice or guidance would be appreciated. thanks clint ==== .

nathan w. collier wrote unfortunately theres no real way to determine how much value if any is lost where would you begin to estimate seriously....if you were in the market and found two identical trucks in the same price range one with a damage history and the other without any damage history which one are you going to buy if i had a choice between 2 trucks at the same price i would definitely take the undamaged one no question about it. but the real question is if there was only 1 truck available and it was properly repaired how much less would i pay than if it wasnt ever in an accident i dont know. i might pay the same if it had the equipment i wanted and it was at a price i considered reasonable because there isnt a second truck to compare it to. the used truck market is too fluid to say what the value of one particular truck is worth from one day to the next. depends on the market at the day of sale. john .

like others have said since he didnt see the accident he really doesnt know what happened. hmmm.... vehicle #1 was progressing down a street vehicle #2 was coming out of a driveway. #1 has side-impact damage #2 has head-on damage. #2 tried to stop as evidenced by skid marks. its pretty obvious #1 didnt slide sideways from across the street into #2. its also obvious #2 was travelling at a certain rate of speed to make those skid marks - clearly moving too quickly to safely turn 90 into traffic. funny how you questioned the speed in your initial post in this thread saying with the minimal damage that vehicle 2 could not be going all that fast and are not whining to me about vehicle 2 going to fast to make the turn. you really need to back off on the noise level and make up your mind. those are all facts easily verifiable by looking at the scene. really were you there did you see the scene now - is it possible that #1 was travelling in the left-lane and changed into the right striking #2 as he was pulling out into the right-hand lane possible dont know if it was a multi-lane road but say it was.... but still why the skid marks from #2 indicating as nate stated an initial speed of 30-35mph when the brakes were applied perhaps the skid marks were from another vehicle or perhaps vehicle 2s brakes were not functioning properly and only the rear wheels applied significant braking force. skid marks from the rear wheels only will cause much longer skid marks and you did know that right and thinking of that unless the driver was operating a yugo or similarly sized vehicle the skid marks for a vehicle traveling at 35 mph would be of a significant length so where exactly did driver 2 apply these brakes. then again perhaps the officer was using the density of the skid marks to determine speed but that would be influenced by the weight of the vehicle and if he estimated it incorrectly.... perhaps it was just the position of the sun blinding driver 2 and he couldnt see her and the officer decided not to make driver 2s day even worse than it already was since he was not driving carelessly. like i said before there are just too many variables. ok i gotta ask.... so driving essentially blind folded is not careless capable of performing this operation. as for the paint since the factory paint is for the most part shit anymore i dont see how the body shop could do any worse. so you wont mind if someone crashes into the side of your truck then offers to pay a body shop to fix it right i mean - itll be good as new so it really shouldnt make a difference lol please show me where in the above comment that you retained that i said that he shouldnt mind or that it shouldnt bother him -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

thanks tom you may have your work cut out for you adding another port to that tank. mechanical fasteners of any variety will not hold in plastic. the only way to make this work is to have an internal metal plate for the flange fasteners to clamp against. if you are lucky there may be enough available real estate in the factory port flange. thanks for the advise. i believe you are correct and i have no other choice except make this mod. ill start gathering bits and pieces now. on pump noise all pumps are noisy. i will try to use rubber isolation on the mount. steve alternative solution. i think half the problem is line size. it really is too small. please enlighten me with your experiece. i dont particlarly want to reinvent the wheel. without question the stock lines/banjos are pretty restrictive. most pusher pump kits come with replacement lines and an fittings replacing the stock 5/16 lines and banjo bolts. originally i went with a kit from diesel dynamics which removed the stock lift pump and replaced it with a carter pump mounted on the frame rail. larger lines were used and the banjos eliminated. this worked fine for a while but the pump was very noisy and i was noticing a gradual decrease in fuel pressure delivered to the injection pump. i liked the fass for its larger filters easier to change theyre the spin-on variety easier-to-access water drain the availability of a 3 micron filter the ones available for the stock filter canister are 10 micron and easier to service should the need arise. its very easy to adjust the delivered pressure up or down by simply removing a plug and changing a spring the manufacturer has various springs available. of course its ability to remove air from the fuel is its big claim to fame and is more beneficial on a 1st of 2nd gen truck as any air in the fuel acts to retard injection timing since the injectors are fired by hydraulic pressure. the one downside to the fass that i dont like is you can no longer fuel the truck while its running. the reason is the fass draws a lot of fuel from the tank and returns most of it. the return line gets plumbed into the filler neck vent. because of this putting fuel in through the filler neck creates positive pressure in the vent which will spit the fuel that the fass is returning out of the filler neck. the solution to this is simple... install another return directly into the tank and use that for the fass return leaving the filler vent free. once i get the proper motivation thats what im going to do drain/drop tank drill new hole mount fitting clean out plastic shavings re-install. hope that helps out some... .

i am glad to hear that your family is uninjured. count your blessings there. many thanks! the truck is far from wrecked i gotta disagree there. its definately wrecked. not by definition. while i will agree that it does look like hell and need some serious body work to look new again it appears to need no repairs at all to be fully functional. i bet that back door still works as well. how many people really use car fax anyway. every dealership where you go to trade in your truck. when im shopping for used vehicles bought 3 in the last year alone! i always use carfax. when a carfax shoes an accident i always and without exception move on to another vehicle without regard to any of the details involved. unless you plan on dumping it in the next few years in 2000 i bought a new jeep wrangler. in 2001 i bought an expedition. in 2002 i bought a new mustang gt. in 2003 i bought 2 new jeep wranglers. in 2004 i bought a used f350 a used dodge 2500 and a new dodge ram the one that got wrecked. so far in 2005 ive bought a new jeep wrangler and an 05 bighorn dually diesel. as clearly demonstrated in my vehicle history i buy a new vehicle more often than many people buy new shoes. yes this truck in question will also be dumped soon. i guess that money just burns a hole in your pocket huh - the problem is that most insurance companies will not pay you for depreciation because the resale value is not their concern. they are only obligated to return the vehicle to pre-accident conditions. what exactly is the officer going to give him a ticket for for hitting my truck. in fact the officer in question should have also pistol whipped him. - lol the problem is that i doubt that he knew the specific summons code for hitting nates truck. like others have said since he didnt see the accident he really doesnt know what happened. i am surprised to hear you say this. unless you think that the cab was forged out of a single piece of metal it most certainly can be replaced and you as a professional welder should know this. but to replace it will require a frankenstein job and i know how that shit goes. over time the paint peels shit starts to creek and moan etc. not if it is done correctly. it was welded on to begin with so why should a new one be any worse if done correctly and a good body shop is more than capable of performing this operation. as for the paint since the factory paint is for the most part shit anymore i dont see how the body shop could do any worse. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

if the guy hit nates truck unless nates wife ran a red light the other driver clearly was proceeding when he couldnt see anything. thats careless driving on some level. lol you are kidding right!!! nope. if you dont have full control of the vehicle its careless driving. if the police did not witness any broken laws or the accident it is unlikely that they would issue a summons. bullshit. in pa someone gets a summons if not both drivers. probably becaue the towns in pa are so poor that they need any possible source of income including bogus traffic tickets. nope its more like the cops would get sued if they didnt accurately report the events and issue citations according to the law. other than that i tend to agree small town cops are a pita. considering the pillar is a primary component of the structural integrity of the cab and actually appears to have significant damage it will probably need to be replaced regardless of the policy he has and his policy really doesnt matter unless he intends to make a claim against he own insurance. but the truck isnt wrecked wow.... i guess it depends on what *you* want to think whether or not its wrecked. im betting there is a cab mount real close to that spot any guesses as to the damge it took while you are correct i doubt that he will really need one or that one would do him any good. paranoid or not when dealing with an insurance company face it they charge you big dollars to make sure you dont have to spend big dollars that wants to keep its money and another party that wants to spend as little as possible... yeah its a good idea to have a lawyer. -- max give a man a match and he is warm for a short while. light him on fire and he is warm for the rest of his life. no one was injured. why do you need an attorney simply because he is dealing with an insurance company is a good enough reason to hire an attorney. that sounds like paranoia to me and will put the insurance company on the defensive for no valid reason. what law did he break if the guy hit nates truck unless nates wife ran a red light the other driver clearly was proceeding when he couldnt see anything. thats careless driving on some level. lol you are kidding right!!! if the police did not witness any broken laws or the accident it is unlikely that they would issue a summons. bullshit. in pa someone gets a summons if not both drivers. probably becaue the towns in pa are so poor that they need any possible source of income including bogus traffic tickets. no one likes bondo. unless the truck is totalled or you are willing to sell it get used to it. rubbish. a proper body shop will repair with as little filler as possible. the pillar has minimal damage that can repaired. why do you want a new one unless you are willing to pay the difference neither insurance company is required to replace a repairable part. more crap. one you dont know the damage two it may well be that the policy nate bought requires replacement. considering the pillar is a primary component of the structural integrity of the cab and actually appears to have significant damage it will probably need to be replaced regardless of the policy he has and his policy really doesnt matter unless he intends to make a claim against he own insurance. the bank wont care what condition your truck is in. they will still want their payment. im pretty sure there is no bondo exclusion in your loan agreement. that wasnt his point. sorry to sound pesimistic but accidents happen. your insurance company should provide you with an attorney if there is any litigation. why do you have one already you paid a premium for your insurance companys help during an accident. ask them these questions. theres no reason to hire an attorney of your own. simply put the attorney works for the person/company paying the fee. thus nate should have an attorney of his own not just one that the insurance company pays for. while you are correct i doubt that he will really need one or that one would do him any good. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

the truck is far from wrecked and in all honesty how many people really use car fax anyway. unless you plan on dumping it in the next few years the possible devaluation from carfax would be minimal to non-existant. i dont get how anyone figures that damage is far from wrecked. thats about $3-5000 in damage depending on how the paint shop goes about matching the paint. one side of the truck is messed up but it appears that the doors still work and the truck is still drivable and fully usable. hell there wasnt even any glass broken. while it may look like crap right now it actually requires no repairs to be operational and cannot be considered wrecked. and yes carfax is a fairly popular source on cars i see requests for them online and printouts from them on used car lots. like i said how many potential buyers really use it and the damage here is not serious ugly but not serious. unless he plans on trading it in the next year or so or sell it privately for top dollar he should have no problem. it is not up to the police to determine who is at fault. that is up to the insurance companies and if necessary the legal system. the duty of the police is to report the facts involved in the accident and issue citations for any laws that were broken which may have lead to the collision. ok so in one paragraph you go from the cops having no determination in placing fault to having all the determination in finding fault. lol you do make me laugh. they report the facts nothing more. those facts also include any traffic violations that the drivers may have done that may or may not influence the outcome but it is not their responsibility to be judge and jury. i have said nothing different despite you twisted maxland spin. as usual you are spinning before even getting a reply. pkb -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

no one was injured. why do you need an attorney depreciation compensation. you ever try to tell/trade a vehicle thats been wrecked what law did he break failure to yield was he speeding speeding in what sense for the highway speed limit no. the impact occured where the driveway meets the street and its determined that he was running an estimated 35 mph. obviously he didnt stop unless a truck with a loaded 8-horse trailer can accelerate from 0 to 35mph in 5 feet. i dont drive 35 mph through bank parking lots and dont consider it reasonable for others to either. no one likes bondo. unless the truck is totalled or you are willing to sell it get used to it. and this is why im seeking the advice of an attorney. i will not pay for bondo. it didnt have bondo on it when i bought it and im not going to settle for it now due to his negligence. why should i have to live with bondo due to his negligence the pillar has minimal damage that can repaired. why do you want a new one unless you are willing to pay the difference neither insurance company is required to replace a repairable part. the door and the bed can both be unbolted and replaced. the pillar cannot be replaced without being frankensteined. the bank wont care what condition your truck is in. they will still want their payment. im pretty sure there is no bondo exclusion in your loan agreement. i never said i was going to default on my loan. i said i wasnt going to pay for bondo. this is why im getting an attorney. if bondo is no big deal then surely they wont mind taking the truck for themselves and reselling it. they can take the hit i wont. you paid a premium for your insurance companys help during an accident. ask them these questions. theres no reason to hire an attorney of your own. ill certainly consider a fair depreciation offer. otherwise ill get it through the courts. im not looking for unjust compensation only realistic loss compensation. nobody is grabbing their neck crying whiplash or asking for one dime of pain & suffering this despite my wife is in moderate pain in her back but feels it will pass. im only trying to prevent eating depreciation due to the negligence of someone else. my brother bought a new suburban last year. less than a month later a car ran a light and smacked them. $4800 later the truck was repaired and when he attempted to trade it the truck was devalued an estimated 30% due to having been wrecked. had he gotten an attorney he could have recovered depreciation compensation.....since he didnt hes stuck with a truck he no longer wants because he owes way more on it than it will sell for now thanks to the negligence of someone else. this is why im trying to protect my interests now. my insurance company said to let them see what they can resolve before i seek outside counsel but consultations are free. nathan w. collier http//inlinediesel.com http//utilityoffroad.com http//7slotgrille.com http//bighornrefrigeration.com .

bushbaby wrote with the feelings of most americans after 9/11 and the bogus intel being presented to america about the dangers of saddam and bush didnt tell me anything i hadnt already heard for many years prior. the only difference is that when clinton bombed iraq for the very same reason the liberal left said nothing. when one prominent dem after another stated iraq to be a threat the liberal left went along with it. after the war started clinton himself made a public statement saying that on the day he left office saddam had wmds. the difference is that bush was wrong. when clinton bombed iraq the weapons did exist and as you have said yourself many times he was successful at destroying many of them. the reason that the dems didnt complain was because it was successful and successful with little risk to our troops. can the same be said for what bush did and is doing what clinton said after the war started really means nothing. his words were based on the information he had at the time and as you said after the bombings there were still some weapons that were found and tagged and he had no way of knowing what happened to them and assumed that they were still there. again the difference is that he didnt send our men and women into harms way based on unsubstantiated rumors and old data unlike bush who even when the most recent data coming in from the inspectors said that the weapons were not there and neither were the supplies or facilities required to make more of them decided rush us in there unprepared for nothing more than political reasons and is so doing sent so many of our troops to die for no valid reason. .
