Q: ive had no complaints out of my 2500. as far as a short bed you can pull a 5th with it. just use a slider type hitch. these hitches slide back for tight bends in and out of camping spots ect then slide forward for highway travel puts kingpin in correct location. ive got friends that use short bed trucks pulling bigger trailers than i have and they have no complaints. there are several diff designes for the slider type hitch. all in how much you want to spend. bonus for me on the 2500 srw was it doesnt take as wide of a garadge door to fit through made finding a house with a garage to fit both trucks into easier -- -chris 05 ctd 99 durango stupid question time. is the new mega cab available for the lb drw and still allow enough room for a 5th wheel im assuming you either cant or wouldnt want to do a 5th wheel with a sb with or without the mega cab i was a bit surprised to see only $2k difference in the base price between the 2500 srw and 3500 duelly. makes me wonder why anyone pulling a 5th wheel would ever consider anything but the duelly but you see it all the time. lawrence tnloaswpraemnmcien5g@earthlink.net writes yea but that puts you back with that tiny box in the back doesnt it *grin* sheesh! some people want everything... me included .

brought my 98 dodge dakota pickup into ntb for new tires and alignment the latter costs $70. i read over the printout afterwards and notice that only the toes and cambers front tires were adjusted or changed.....i asked why the casters were not adjusted even though they are out of the proper range according to printout and the front desk guy said he didnt think they could be adjusted i didnt talk to the alignment guy because the place was closing that night....ill probably go back...but first i want to become a little informed before doing that. drove the truck home and it handles quite well but ...... still think they were probably just cutting corners . i do remember the same thing happening about 5 years ago...ntb said something to the effect that not good to adjust the casters....can throw off the toe or something vaguely similar to that. p.s. left caster is 4.9 but the correct range is 2.5 to 3.5 right caster same as above actually i dont know if they did a good job with the camber and toe because they certainly didnt move the numbers anywhere into the center of the correct ranges although they did put everything into the correct ranges but on the edges of the range in some cases if you know what i mean. reply .

yes especially for the homeowner and for wheel service the air powered jacks such as is found on alighnment racks are avail. its on my wish list wonder what the arch control commitie would think about a lift in the drive way *grin* -- -chris 05 ctd 99 durango chris i think he meant something for him to be able to stand and work not to lift the car. however i agree 100% on the drive-on-lift requirement as it eliminates the need to crawl around putting lift arms under the vehicle. plus in the case of trucks with the forward weight bias i think they are safer than the outrigger style. -- max there are four boxes to be used in defense of liberty soap ballot jury and ammo. please use in that order. -ed howdershelt author if you have the money to build something you may want to look at a parking/service lift they are drive on lifts. i would imagine you would spend close to the same amount of money on the steel to build something or more to drive up on that would be tall enough to allow you to work on the vehicle. -- -chris 05 ctd 99 durango i finally got to see the damaged transfer case and front driveshaft. the interior of the transfer case were in great shape still looked new with very little sign of wear. the failure was with the transfer case end u-joint on the front drive shaft. it failed and allowed the drive shaft to shift and wedge against the transfer case blowing up the case. we paid two garages to look at the u-joints within a month of the failure. i wish we still had self-service garages like we had in the 1970 where you could hoist a rig and look for your self. i have a physical impairment that prevents me from crawling under a car or i would have done the inspection my self. i guess i need to build somethng that will allow me to stand and work under a rig. thanks for all the ideas and discussion. these groups are a great resource. lowell .
