Yes, Virginia, the check engine light is STILL ON.....
From : Annonymous
Q: returning to our saga - after visit number 7.... the dealer decided the less-than-a-month-old mopar performance distributor cap was causing the miss.... so i had summit send me a replacement and put it on..... and of course a couple days later the check engine light came on again... so called the service manager - cause as youll all recall the team leader doesnt want to work on the truck any more cause im rude........... service manager looked over the records and actually chuckled at the idea that i might be a trifle irate after this many visits... wanted to talk to his techs and hed get back to me today... well he actually did..... and now theyve decided the engine needs to be de-carbonized... i shit you not... his rationale was - now get ready - bad gas poor ethanol/gas mixture yup those gas stations closer to the refinery get gas that isnt as well mixed with the ethanol leakage of oil past the intake gasket prior to them changing it time engine design that maybe promotes carbon on valve seats and on and on... it was interesting and amusing... and of course their dealership does a lot of carbon busting at $109 each i might add which maybe sometimes helps the problem... what hed apparently forgotten was that this truck pulls 6500 pounds of trailer and does it not in overdrive. which means it goes down the highway for 3 - 4 hours at a stretch running between 2800 and 3200 rpm..... if there ever was any carbon in there its long gone now... it also runs exclusively on mobil 1 which last time i checked isnt supposed to carbonize like dino oil... and the check engine light came on 3 days into the last trip after pulling from minneapolis to southern indiana... i reminded him of this and his response was oh... anyhow we agreed that im probably handy enough to pour a can of carbon blaster in the intake and that just on the off chance that it does fix the problem its a lot more reliable than letting these dough heads pull the other head off the engine... so i went over to the local dodge dealer for a can of combustion chamber cleaner and they dont have any. never use it... so lemme see ive got one dealer that never does this and another that does it a lot... maybe the dodges on the west side of town have a lot more carbon than the ones on the south side of town anyhow ill have to go find another place to buy this magical elixer and dump some in... i figure eventually theyve got to run out of guesses that they can try to make money from... .

what no capitalized words in this sentence g denny you will also note that he is still whining even though they apparently fixed the problem. he would have only replaced one head so he could bring it back again and whine some more ill start watching reality tv shows when i can vote people off the planet. .

added the magical carbon-busting elixer... engine light stayed off for a few days and then came on again............. back into dealer for visit number eight.......... this time they didnt even try to check the truck while i was there. just gave me a rental and kept the truck...... got a call the next day telling me there was a miss on the right side.... duh. and that it wasnt the plugs or cap or rotor or wires or anything else theyve tried to foist it off on... so now theyve put a new head on the right side.......... its been about 8 days and 300 miles and so far the check engine light is still off... so if theyre finally successful and theres no guarantee of that itll be 8 trips 6 rental cars all paid for by the warranty three sets of plug wires including the taylor spiro-pros two sets of plugs - which is what got the dealer in trouble in the first place charging me for replacing them when they shouldnt three distributor caps three rotors and a replacement intake manifold gasket a new left side head a new right side head chrysler must be totally different than ford... cause when i worked for ford if wed tried to get them to buy two heads and an intake manifold gasket the factory wouldve kicked those warranty claims back so fast out heads wouldve spun... they did not pay for parts or labor for bad guesses... all this of course assumes the thing is fixed and the engine light stays off... .
