Q: well its time to seriously concider installing a winch on my 04 2500 qc sb cummins 4x4. i am seriously looking at a mile marker brand. i am debating both the electric and hydraulic versions. i understand the general benefits of both types but want to know if any of you have one and if so your opinions. as far as the hydraulic version the 10.5k model and 12k for electric is there and alternative to tying directly into the vehicle steering pump such as an aftermarket 12 volt pump/resevior unit i am not wanting to run afoul of any warranty issues. also which bumper options have you looked at i have so far researched www.roadarmor.com www.buckstop.biz www.trailready.com and of course reunel. finally a couple of additional questions... is there a stock or aftermarket rear wheel well inner fender guard that i can install and which size rims can i safely use to replace he stock 17 ones thanks in advance for the info don .

the front end on your xj was actually stonger than the front suspension on you new ram! a staight axle is going to be stronger especially in a truck designed to be a car like the new 1500 is. just try to find a snow plow for it. gary carter. bolo4u wrote... snip i have a milemarker hydraulic winch on the front of my jeep xj and it is hooked to the power steering pump... works great... i just bought a 04 dodge 1500 4x4 quad cab and im looking for a bumper for it... turns out that the one that i had decided upon ranchhand bull bar doesnt make one for the 1500 only for the 2500+... they said that their bumper is too heavy for the front end of the 1500... one option is to go with a non-winch bumper that has a receiver hitch that can be used to mount a removeable winch i guess... at least that would make it easier in those situations where i really didnt want to keep going further into the mess that ive gotten myself into... i dont like the stress that would probably be put on a receiver hitch mount winch in an off-angle pull though... i would prefer a more custom design where there was 3 receiver hitches that the winch slid into... im considering going with super craft http//supercraftinc.com/styles.asp and having them do a custom design for me... not as stylish as road armor but it looks utilitarian... im also looking at south texas outfitters http//www.southtexasoutfitters.com/... .
