Who owns Cummins?
From : trey
Q: i think maybe that was a metaphor. like you are owned! in one of the other ngs i follow someone mentioned that ford owns cummins. is there any truth to this did ford own a piece of cummins at one point in time who owns cummins now or are they on their own .

trey wrote when i go to the gas station it holds entirely too much fuel and cost too much money. im thinking of adding a k&n fuel filter i hear it lets more diesel pass more quickly than the mopar one does. just get one of these http//www.transferflow.com/html/crossthebedtanks0.html and then you just have to fill up three times a year. i understand honda engines get really good mileage. you could install one in your truck. im sure its just a simple bolt on. -- ..bob 1997 hd fxdwg - turbocharged! 2001 dodge dakota qc 5.9/4x4/3.92 1966 mustang coupe - daily driver 1966 ffr cobra - ongoing project .

tbone wrote tbone wrote the term long or short does not refer to the length of the block it refers to the completeness of the build. a short block is just the block and its internal components pistons connecting rods crank but does not include the cam pushrods heads intake ... a long block is more complete and includes most of what is missing from the short block but is still usually missing a few things and is not ready to run. what he said. your decision should be based on a lot of things. cost is only one of them. but also what are you looking to do trailer towing vs. drag strip runs vs. daily commuting. one of these years mine will need a rebuild. or ill want to do it for better performance. its only got 70k now so no rush. id use an essentially stock long block with cast or hypereutectic pistons and a slightly better cam for more torque. then add as set of edelbrocks new heads and probably the stock but slightly improved beer barrel intake. that should make a real stump puller that will last another 100k+ miles and not cost a fortune. with what you are going to do wouldnt you be better off starting with a short block maybe. when i get ready to do it ill start looking around and see whats available. sometimes its better to get a long block custom built and some times not. ill cross that bridge when i get to it. i only have 70k miles on the engine now and it runs just great. but i can never leave well enough alone when it comes to engines. so im thinking about it now. i havent even finished the two projects im working on now and im already thinking of a third. and then theres the wifes car.......... -- ..bob 1997 hd fxdwg - turbocharged! 2001 dodge dakota qc 5.9/4x4/3.92 1966 mustang coupe - daily driver 1966 ffr cobra - ongoing project .

the only trouble i had was one of the fuses in the transfer switch was bad and it was not a whole lot of fun trying to find a replacement. none of the local supply houses carried it and neither did the hd where i bought the unit. come to think of it they also dont carry the replacement oil filters for it either but fortunantly i found the correct automotive filter for it. the later models have a delco starter and they have been good. if your starter is gold colored you have a newer one the early ones were black and it will fail sooner than later. gee thanks for scaring the shit out of me. i went out to look and it has the gold colored one so hopefully ill be ok there. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving we get allot of people calling for oil filters and a odd part or two. hd here plus a couple other stores sell them so we get to service them too. i too had trouble finding fuses other than generac. we generally special order them from a local electrical wholesaler. i had to order them online. i also replaced its main breaker to upgrade it to a 70 amp since it is running on propane and the breaker generac uses for that is also hard to find. fortunantly the online supplier had both. we get a few that install themselves and it does not work when they are done. of course it is warranty in their mind but it always is an installation problem. i had to make some modifications to both the gen unit and the house wiring to make it work and having that done by someone else would have cost me a fortune. the only problem i had was a short pintched wire on the control lines between the gen unit and the external box which is what blew the fuse. fortunately it blew the fuse on the voltage sense side so i knew about it right away when the gen always wanted to run. after repairing the short there were no more problems. once installed they have been running great. the first few that we got from the factory had some bugs to iron out but after the initial shot they have been great generators. far better than the last model they built! those help keep me employed! my boss has two 8k units on his house both are broke down at the moment! it does seem to run well and remains stable regardless of the load although it doesnt like it much when the ac first comes on. during the break-in i had it pretty loaded down and it seemed to handle it with no problem. hopefully i will never need it but im glad its there if i do and it also gives me another selling point on the house. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

suddenly without warning nathan w. collier exclaimed 5/22/2005 506 am http//7slotgrille.com/images/forumpics/fds.jpg for the picture. im not laughing nate... really... im not.... heh. three weeks ago they dug up my phone line and chewed it in half. last week they chewed the phone line in half again where it goes into the house from the terminal box. now this. | let me rummage around my garage tomorrow - i might still have the stock vacuum lines from my 2500 oh sweet! let me know something save me a trip to the local napa. converted it to a mechanical linkage for 4x4 tell me more with as many details as possible about this conversion id like to do the same thing if i end up keeping the truck. sounds like your dogs are seriously bored. thats the problem with smart dogs - if theres nothing to do they invent stuff. usually destructive. are you going to train them for something if not you might consider it - herding or maybe agility. i wonder if leaving some hoses out for them to chew will keep them away from the working ones... im not a dog expert but ive seen this sort of activity before with border collies... jmc .

in one of the other ngs i follow someone mentioned that ford owns cummins. is there any truth to this did ford own a piece of cummins at one point in time who owns cummins now or are they on their own i have that information archived from a long dead link http//www.cummins.com//benefit.html pertinent information selectively cut and pasted. begin quoted text columbus ind. jan. 3 1997 repurchase of 3 million shares also authorized by company - shares repurchased from ford motor company - kenneth dabrowski resigns from board. the company also announced that it has repurchased 1.3 million shares of its common stock from ford motor company and has authorized the repurchase of an additional 1.7 million shares in the open market. in accordance with the terms of the companys 1990 investment agreement with ford kenneth r. dabrowski a ford vice president who has recently served on the cummins board of directors under the terms of the investment agreement has resigned effective with the repurchase. following the repurchase from ford the company has approximately 38.2 million shares outstanding. end quoted text i also have the most recent information from cummins.com http//www.cummins.com/cmi/content.jspsiteid=1&langid=1033&menuid=6&overviewid=29&anchorid=44&menuindex=4&index=3 when will ford get the b series engine for their pickups currently the dodge/cummins and the ford/navistar agreements are set for the next several years. no announcements have been published by either company to change engine suppliers. does ford own cummins no ford does not own any part of cummins inc. .

thank you tbone i like the sarcasm well im glad to hear it bt sarcasm or not it is still the truth. anyway i have been trying to tell people about this and everyone is a cynic which i dont blame people for being that way because i was the same way. you were until you though that you could make some money suckering others. actually it is a product that my diesel mechanic brought to me and said try some and if you dont see results ill give you a hundred dollars so i said sounds like an easy bet needless to say i lost the bet. sure you did after all why make $100 when you can possibly make thousands or possibly even millions ripping off fools. general haig is going to be doing a presentation in june on cnbc world wide. this stuff works in gas or diesel engines my old man farms up here in north dakota any way he has been using it in his john deere 9400 which has triples on it this thing burn 200 gallons every 12 hours he told me that the last time he checked he was saving 2 gallons an hour which is huge for him. hey why not. why shouldnt he make some money screwing others as well. what i would like to see is more people using the product sure you would that would put more $$$$$$$ in your pocket. it saves on mileage they gauruntee it reduces emissions up to 80% and gives up to a 20% power boost in diesel engines who in their right mind wouldnt want to use it first of all a guarantee is only as good as the company offering it and since you have yet to even mention the name of it so far that is worthless. now perhaps you care to explain exactly how this mystery additive works. tell me does it come with magnets the city of dallas uses it in all city vehicles the us government has been using it for over 9 years. this means nothing city and state governments also tried those fuel magnets. does that mean that they work as well if this test was so sucessfull for over 9 years how come i never heard of this crap until now. here ios a question is this stuff called fuel-on i dont know what to say i just wish people kept an open mind because it actually works there are people all around here using it and saving money. if it works so well and for over 9 years as you claim how come none of us have heard of it before sorry dude but it just screams scam to me and im sure just about everyone in hear as well. it comes in a one gallon jug and it mixes with five gallons of fuel 20% mixture and this miracle stuff is 90% ethanol .
