lmao. just the confidence boost i needed thanks red. now after i clean the coffee off of my screen and keyboard.... -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving i just saw where before you can legally move to north carolina you have to be able to pass this!!!!!!!!! better start studying!!!!!!!!! bg subject southern engineerng exam my friends in the south are sick and tired of hearing about how dumb people are in the south. therefore they challenge any so-called smart yankee to take and pass this exam administered by the university of arkansas engineering department 1. calculate the smallest limb diameter on a persimmon tree that will support a 10-pound possum. 2. which of these cars will rust out the quickest when placed on blocks in your front yard a 65 ford fairlane a 69 chevrolet chevelle or a 64 pontiac gto 3. if your uncle builds a still which operates at a capacity of 20 gallons of shine produced per hour how many car radiators are required to condense the product 4. a woodcutter has a chainsaw which operates at 2700 rpm. the density of the pine trees in the plot to be harvested is 470 per acre. the plot is 2.3 acres in size. the average tree diameter is 14 inches. how many budweisers will be consumed before the trees are cut down 5. if every old refrigerator in the state vented a charge of r-12 simultaneously what would be the percentage of depletion of the ozone layer 6. a front porch is constructed of 2x8 pine on 24-inch centers with a field rock foundation. the span is 8 feet and the porch length is 16 feet. the porch floor is 1-inch rough sawn pine. when the porch collapses how many hound dogs will be killed 7. a man owns a tennessee house and 3.7 acres of land in a hollow with an average slope of 15%. the man has five children. can each of his grown children place a mobile home on the mans land and still have enough property for their electric appliances to sit out front 8. a 2-ton truck is overloaded and proceeding 900 yards down a steep slope on a secondary road at 45 mph. the brakes fail. given average traffic conditions on secondary roads what is the probability that it will strike a vehicle with a muffler 9. a coal mine operates a nfpa class 1 division 2 hazardous area. the mine employs 120 miners per shift. a gas warning is issued at the beginning of the 3rd shift. how many cartons of unfiltered camels will be smoked during the shift 10. at a reduction in the gene pool variability rate of 7.5% per generation how long will it take a town which has been bypassed by the interstate to breed a country-western singer politics the gentle art of getting votes from the poor and campaign funds from the rich. .

okay... hopefully someone can give me some good suggestions that may leave red out of it but well see. - . first some background basically i have an 85 ram with a 318. itll be a daily driver once its up and running. right now the engine has a 4-bbl manifold on it probably not the wisest thing to do with 85 swirl port heads yes im aware of the reversion problem...now. i havent tried actually running it hard yet because the gas in the tank has gone bad from sitting too long. also the carb is a qj from an 84 ram. the cam that was in the engine was a racing cam ordered by taking poor advice on what to get put in when rebuilding it almost 4 years ago the reason i went to the 4-bbl intake. i replaced it with a stock cam recently and when i started the break-in could only get the engine to run by mashing the pedal to the floor. when i was done with the break-in the exhaust manifold was cherry red and smoking. now the questions 1 should i go back to the 2-bbl manifold we have emissions testing in the area so i have to pass that its just a sniffer test and the testers are not allowed to comment on whether the carbs are correct only whether emissions lines are intact. also how much is the reversion going to effect performance on a pickup that will see very little highway action when the truck ran 4k was only a dream since it would have put me at about 115 mph or so estimated. 2 what size jets and needles should i use in the carb i have a feeling that mine may be too lean judging by the cherry-red exhaust but that may just have been the gas being bad. i dont remember what i have in there now but it seems like 78/52. any ideas on what to do to get this beast running it ran pretty smoothly but failed the sniffer a while back so the wife has been on my back to get it running correctly again. any thoughts on what i should do with the gas once its drained and no red a barbeque is not in order. thanks for the input! -josh .

i will check on that tomorrow. incidentally how much damage will incur if this was run like this. i have no clue how long it has been since whatever happened happened. shearer331@earthlink.net posted here is the situation i have a 98 4 cylinder dakota. actually my wife does. well i go to check the oil the other day and find oil on the underside of the hood and all over the passenger side of the engine. i check the oil and find nothing but a chocolate milkshake substance all the way up to the dipstick opening. first thought was blown headgasket but i have no clue how that would happen. the truck has never overheated no detrimental running issues no smoking the coolant is perfect. someone told me to watch out for a cracked head but they dont just crack for no reason. any clues. i dont have the time to tear this motor apart 2 car-2 job family. any one hear of this happening or care to shed some light here thanks ken it *might* not be as grim as youre imagining. i had the same thing happen to a older camaro. changed oil and would turn to a tan froth pdq. first thought i had was plugged pcv valve but no such luck. hose connected and blew clear. compression and rad. pressure test ok. eventually found the underside of the pcv hose had become gooey-soft and was collapsing like a letter c under the slightest vacuum. new hose one more oil change and everything was back to normal. .

anyone in the south-east area of virginia need the front end of a 95 caravan my wifes van got hit in the rear http//dodge-semis.com/images/van01.jpg and i might end up buying it back. before the accident the body was in excellent condition. the transaxle was replaced with a factory reman unit about 25k miles ago. the engine is the 3.0l v6. it blew a head gasket about 20000 miles ago total mileage on van is about 145k. while they were replacing both head gaskets i had the timing belt and water pump replaced. most of the miles on the van are highway mileage several trips back and forth from sd to florida along with a trip from florida to alaska and back. everything on the van worked great at the time it was hit. so now i am looking for anyone that would be interested in buying any part or all of the van. would prefer to find one person to take the whole thing but if i can get one person to buy the engine/tranny and another for the remains of the body that would still be okay. thanks ruppster bryan at dodge-semis dot com .

i concur with jimbo -- i tow a tandem axle car trailer i found out the hard way about trailer brakes - ouch!. i also use a deep cycle -- the brakes dont require much current. when towing its connected to the charging system in the tow vehicle via a thermal-type circuit breaker in the tow vehicle. however because the trailer sits most of the time i *always* check/correct the condition of the battery. as a bonus it was also easy to connect the hotrods batteries into the charging system via a patch cable. it has connectors on each end and i use mating connectors on the trailers battery box and racecar. i did that after arriving at the dragstrip w/ two dead batteries. ;- bryan ive towed a fifth wheel since 94 and the steel cable that mac refers to is plugged into an electrical switch on the front under panel of the trailer overhang. this switch is tied into the 12v electrical system for the trailer which is energized by a standard deep cycle battery. the silver box referred to is merely a switch. when the cable is pulled it yanks a plastic insert out of the switch which closes and energizes the brakes. a way to test it is to hook up the trailer and while pulling forward slowly yank the steel wire with a long lanyard attached to the loop in the cable and pull the plastic insert out. the brakes should set and bring you to a stop. but the battery is an automotive battery. many people use two 6v golf cart batteries in the trailer as they say that the batteries last longer. i dont have enough room in the battery compartment to do that. pcolaphil .
